Dr. Dwana Shabazz was born in a military family. Living in the Washington, D.C. Area since age 10, she claims this region as her hometown.
Dr. Shabazz attended Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans and graduated magna cum laude. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology, Pre-Medicine. She came home to George Washington University and obtained both her medical degree and Masters of Public Health in Community Health.
After graduation, Dr. Shabazz remained at George Washington University for her internship in Internal Medicine. Afterwards, she moved to Los Angeles for her dermatology residency at King-Drew/Harbor UCLA Medical Center. While there, she served as chief resident during her final year.
Dr. Shabazz relocated to Sterling, Virginia after residency and worked at Dermatology Associates of Northern Virginia before establishing Renascance Dermatology.
As a Board Certified Dermatologist, Dr. Shabazz practices general and cosmetic dermatology and performs surgical procedures. She often participates in local and regional outreach programs, such as skin cancer screenings, speaks at local and national conferences, and has been an author of peer-reviewed journals and a contributor to book chapters.
