He completed an internship at Howard University in Washington, D.C. and residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. His completed a fellowship at St. Louis University Health Science Center, in St. Louis, Missouri. He was in a private practice for over 10 years in Columbia, Tennessee prior to moving to Houston.
Dr. Benny is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and has a Board subspecialty certification in Sleep Medicine. He has held many respectable positions throughout his professional career, including Chief of Neuroscience Division at Maury Regional Hospital and Executive Committee Member. He is licensed in Texas, and is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Academy of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and British Sleep Society.
