Dr. Numsuwan was highly knowledgeable. Although rushed, he listened to my knee and joint issues and provided excellent actionable advice.
The office was not very friendly about the long wait time. My appointment was for 11:00. As instructed, I arrived at 10:30 to complete forms as a new patient. The receptionist said Dr. Numsuwan was on schedule. However, I was not seen until 12 noon.

Edwin Numsuwan is a dedicated and diligent physiatrist serving the communities of Washington, DC and Chevy Chase, MD. Dr. Numsuwan attended Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, where he received his medical degree, and completed his internship in internal medicine at Jersey Shore Medical Center. He continued his training by completing a fellowship in sports and interventional spine at LAGS Spine and Sportscare Medical Centers and another fellowship in interventional pain medicine at Montefiore Medical Center an affiliate of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University. Dr. Numsuwan also completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation New York University Medical Center.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Numsuwan off and on since 2013 for lumbar back pain and I can unequivocally say he’s one of the best physicians in the DMV area in any specialty.
His bedside manner is unparalleled - truly unbelievable. He’s polite and treats you like a peer, taking the time to (non-condescendingly) explain complex problems and procedures.
His memory is another “Numsuwan Superpower” that’s always blown me away. Not only does he remember every procedure and treatment we’ve done but he also casually references seemingly mundane conversational tangents or details of my life that we’ve discussed years prior.
He works with pain management and has a variety of “tools” in his arsenal to attempt to make your situation better. From structural evaluation, to high precision injection, to medication administration his breadth of treatment options is impressive.
He’s highly knowledgable, highly skilled, and willing to think outside the box which make for a deadly trifecta.

As someone who didn't have a referral or had a clear diagnoses (e.g. prior injury etc) I was worried that an appointment with a physiatrist would end up being a waste. However, Dr. Numsuwan was very thoughtful and detailed. He talked through all of my symptoms, clarified and recorded all information carefully, and ordered x-rays for me that they conducted on the spot. After reviewing x-rays, he confirmed my issues and had a very detailed care plan for after. The office being split was a bit confusing, but everything was done in a timely fashion and I checked in + out without issue. Highly recommend!

I hadn't finished the first page of the paperwork before they took me back. I discussed my issue with the nurse/tech and x-rays were ordered right away. Not 10 minutes later, I had completed the x-rays and was speaking with Dr. Numsuwan. He reviewed the x-rays and my paperwork with me. He allowed me to explain the issue in full, then asked a lot of good questions that confirmed he was listening. We did several tests and he went over in detail what he believed to be the issue and both the immediate treatment and potentially required treatments dependent on outcomes. Then, he recapped the appointment through dictation, asked me to correct anything along the way, but was spot on. So, it felt very thorough and that he was really knowledgeable.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr Numsuwan. His bedside manner is wonderful. He is very kind and patient and really listens. He is an outstanding diagnostician. I came to him for my back pain after a frustrating through the medical communitywith other doctors who recommended multiple surgeries, opioids, etc. Dr Numsuwan was the first doctor to correctly diagnose my problem and prescribe a simple topical medicine.

Dr. Numsuwan is attentive and sits down and thoroughly discusses your concerns and works with you to come up with a solution to what ails you, he takes the time and goes over labs, x-rays, and MRI's and uses a model to demonstrate to you what your imaging is showing. This is a follow up appointment to schedule my second course of epidural treatment. I feel comfortable and confident iwith Dr. Numsuwan's care.

Not only was the office staff friendly, he was on time and spent way over the allotted amount of time diagnosing and creating a treatment plan, down to finding me a PT with the specific training needed for treatment. I could not have done this without him!

the MRI and Xray images and how they led him to recommend a specific therapy relative to my present pain and potential future condition. He was positive, yet realistic and put me at ease.

It was the worst appointment I have ever gone on. His bedside mannor was to not listen to me. I have never seen a specialist like this and he would not allow me to speak. I have never a whole appointment where I cried. I cried because he would not listen to me. I am a educated women with a Master's Degree and he looked at me like I was some kid. I have never had anyone tell me nothing is wrong based on a X-Ray. I begged for a MRI and I waited over a hour and a half to have him ignore me and talk in a microphone. Then try to quiz me on a spine demonstration? I have had pain for years and was explaining this and because my dr.'s had changed due to a move from the Midwest to DC act like it was crazy I had no MRI images. I has a friend with me who said what would you like her to do? I have seen her in pain for a year and he said keep a pain journal. Easy to keep constant back pain for years. I have never felt so brushed of or mistreated in my life. Horrific experience! I also came a long way to see him. I am insulted, and still wondering why he would not order a MRI nor take a X-Ray laying down? Felt judged and not taken seriously! Never has happened to me and he must only care about making money because this man did not let me speak and I didnt need that with the severe back pain I have. Do not see him it will be a waste of your time.

There was a bit of a mix-up with my appointment (I thought I was having a procedure; the office had me down for a straight appointment.) I was really impressed with how Dr. Numsuwan and his team strove to address the miscommunication and get me in for the procedure.
