Dr. Levy was born in Paris, France. He left at age three months to San Francisco. In 1970, Dr. Levy moved to Seattle, where he attended private school until he began his studies at the University of Washington. There he majored in Near Eastern Languages and Civilization, while pursuing his pre-med program–a heavy load!
For medical school Dr. Levy attended the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He spent six months at the prestigious New York University Skin Cancer Unit working with Drs. Kopf and Bystryn, who are leaders in skin cancer research. This partnership then lead to publishing two papers on Melanoma and one on Basal Cell Carcinoma. Dr. Levy graduated medical school with a special degree in Cutaceous Oncology, skin cancer. This is quite a feat for a medical student!
For the next three years, Dr. Levy completed a full residency in Internal Medicine at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. There he met his lovely wife, Miriam.
Dr. Levy moved up north a bit to Montreal, Quebec, Canada for his dermatology residency. His two best friends were Canadians living in New York at the time.
Dr. Levy underwent special training in MOHS Skin Cancer Surgery under Dr. Bernstein at the Mayo Clinic and Dr. Billick at the University of Miami. There, Dr. Levy published monthly articles on all forms of skin disease in a local medical journal and presented rare cases at Quarterly meetings.
Dr. Levy began his practice inBurien in November of 1997. He was the first to bring the technique of Mohs Surgery to South Seattle. This provides a 99% cure rate for skin cancer.

I cannot recommend Dr. Levy enough! I needed to be seen last-minute for acne and they were able to fit me in the next morning. Dr. Levy is incredibly knowledgable and personable and was able to recommend a treatment that will work perfectly for me. He listened to my concerns and was very friendly and warm. The facility itself is welcoming and comfortable; they have phone chargers, coffee, magazines, and even free product samples available for patients, so even if you have to wait, it's not burdensome. I was greeted with a smile and left feeling confident that I was given the best treatment. I will definitely return here if I need more treatment and will be quick to recommend Dr. Levy to my friends.

This was my first time as a patient here at Dermatology of Seattle (and a dermatologist in general). My appointment was set for 3:30pm. I was taken into one of the patient rooms around 3:45pm.
Once I was taken into the room, Dr. Levy did not see me until 4:30pm. There were quite a few patients in the waiting room that day so I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe, I was just there on an off-day. Dr. Levy also apologized for the wait. I was frustrated, but I could let it go.
Once the exam began, I wasn't sure what to expect and I had a few concerns that I wanted to consult Dr. Levy about. My complaint here is that after 1 hour of waiting, Dr. Levy saw me for approximately 5 minutes before he was done with me and left.
He briefly scanned my face and back before prescribing some kind of acne medication without any explanation at all of what it was or how to use it. He was also quick to point out certain marks on my skin, in which he would use long medical terms to describe to the assistant. He even pointed out a cyst, but still no explanation. When I asked what he was talking about or if I should be concerned, his response was, "Oh, it's just simple dermatology stuff." I knew that he was a dermatologist with a great reputation, so I tried not to question it too much and that if it was something serious, he would tell me.
Next, I had a few skin tags on my underarms that I wanted to ask about (risk, treatment, etc.). I only expected to have a discussion about it. He took one look at them and asked me to lay down. He then proceeded to numb them without any explanation or consent. I was confused and nervous and didn't know what was going on. I asked him if he was removing the tags right here, right now. He said yes. It felt like I had to pry answers out of him in order to reassure myself that this was no big deal. Once he numbed them, he called in a different person to finish up the procedure. He left without any sort of closure or goodbye.
I left that appointment frustrated and with a very unsettling feeling. The hour long wait was something I could get over. However, the 5 minutes that he was with me, it felt very rushed, like he just wanted to get my appointment over with so that he could move on. I felt like a pesky fly that was an inconvenience to the doctor.
I understand that these types of appointments and procedures are everyday, simple things to Dr. Levy, but as a first-time patient at a dermatologist, it was very uncomfortable and nerve-racking, especially when having a procedure done without any expectation or preparation for it (no matter how simple the procedure may be).
Again, I want to give Dr. Levy the benefit of the doubt that I just caught him on a bad day and that others have not had this same experience. I really wanted to like this place, as I have heard such great things. I have not decided yet whether I will return to Dermatology of Seattle or not.

The wait to be seen was under 5 mins. Dr. Levy was very thorough and took the time to explain what procedures were to be done and the reasons why.
Very efficient without the feeling of being rushed.
Definitely recommend.
