Dr. Ema Kulwa spent her childhood in Kenya and Tanzania, before coming to the USA where she obtained her B.A in Biochemistry at Dartmouth College. She then obtained her M.D and M.P.H from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She completed her residency at Stamford Hospital in Stamford, Connecticut.
Dr.Kulwa is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr. Kulwa enjoys all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology and has also taken a special interest in female sexuality and minimally invasive surgery such as hysteroscopy, laparoscopy and vaginal surgery.
In her free time she enjoys running, yoga and dancing zumba. She is fluent in Swahili and English. She is currently accepting new patients.

I would like to start off by saying Dr. Ema Kulwa is the best Gynecologist ever. She made my first annual exam feel like it was the best experience in the world. She was so patient, very kind, and an extremely great listener. Every question I had Dr. Kulwa followed up with a great answer. She also explained every part of the procedure as she was working, which made me even more comfortable. As an African American female I always get scared my concerns aren't fully being addressed in the medical industry, but you could feel Dr. Kulwa is very passionate about the patient and her work. I will now be going to Dr. Kulwa full time as this experience has been like no other. If you live in Greensboro or any surrounding areas, I TOTALLY recommend seeing Dr. Kulwa as she is amazing and one of the most sweetest persons on this earth.

Dr. Kulwa was wonderful! I was extremely nervous for my appointment because I’ve never had a good experience with any OBGYN I have ever seen, but Dr. Kulwa and her staff were very attentive and listened to all my concerns. They were patient with me and kept me calm and explained the whole procedure to me throughly. The long drive to her office was worth it. I will definitely be going back.
