About Dr. Emily Tetelman
I wanted to become a health care provider because I have always had a desire to help others. I earned my Bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York, Binghamton, and went on to complete my Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at the New York Institute of Technology, New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. During my residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Maimonides Medical Center, I was immediately drawn to the field of OB/GYN.
There is no “typical day” in the life of an OB/GYN. The variety keeps me energized and enthusiastic about my work. OB/GYNs have the distinct privilege of providing comprehensive care to women throughout their lifetime and forming meaningful relationships with them at all phases of life—from puberty to pregnancy to menopause. There is still no better experience in medicine than getting to take part in a delivery!
I try to connect with my patients on a personal level first and foremost so that I can provide individualized care. I take the time to listen to each and every patient to ensure their specific needs are met to the best of my ability.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors, especially in the summer months. In my spare time, I can be found reading a good book or trying out a new local restaurant.
I encourage my patients to stay up to date with their preventive screenings, vaccinations, and follow up with their primary care provider. I also advise them to maintain healthy lifestyle habits, including regular exercise.

She was ok. She listened and gave explanations to my questions which I appreciated. Neither her nor her tech smiled once during my visit which didn’t make me feel that comfortable or at ease. The tech opened the door and left before I could close my legs. Did they get the job done? Yes. Was it a friendly, comfortable atmosphere? No.

After driving a half hour with a line out the door, the front desk couldn’t find my appointment even though I had a Zocdoc confirmation (via email and text, even at the live appointment time). The receptionist says that doctor isn’t even here and didnt know why Zocdoc or their systems would even allow to take the appointment. The location doesn’t take walk-in or double book appointments even though it was their systems fault. Initially they tried to reschedule me for a future date but explained I would’ve wasted a sick work day, the drive time, the line wait, and all the time I waited months prior to making the appointment, AND I’d still be stuck with a health issue. The manager was able to make a same day appointment in the afternoon. The appointment booking system is flawed, and the check-in kiosk system did not work. It’s mandatory to fix as many others may have the same issue.

Dr Tetelman was great. I made it known that I was anxious and she made every effort to make sure I was as comfortable as possible. I had more questions than the 15 minute visit would be sufficient for, so she scheduled a follow-up with me so that all my questions can be answered.

This was my first annual OB/GYN appointment with Dr. Tetelman, and she was great! She communicated clearly, answered all my questions (even those I didn't know I had!), and proactively informed me of some preventative tests and potential procedures I could look into that I was not aware of from my last OB. The exam itself was quick and painless, and Dr. Tetelman explained clearly what she was doing the whole appointment. I'm grateful to have found such an awesome OB in my new neighborhood!

She was patient, was not at all rushed, and was very gentle during the exam. It may have been the most comfortable gyn exam in my almost 20 years of receiving them.

I had a consultation based on a mix of different and unrelated symptoms I was experiencing. The Dr. checked vital signs, did the usual GYN exam, and took a couple of swabs for infectious diseases. All came back negative (I knew they would, that’s not what I went to see her for). After she explained her thoughts on some of my symptoms, I was asked if I had any questions. When I asked questions, to each one she replied with: “Again, …” She did that several times, and I found it annoying at the end. I felt like I wasn’t suppose to ask “stupid” questions, or continue with questions at all. At the end she noted that if I continue experiencing abnormal fluctuations during my PMS (which was one of my various symptoms), we can discuss a “pill” treatment. I found the appointment basic/routine, my questions were answered with a “by-the-book” knowledge, and I felt I might have wasted my time.
