Dr. Eric Edwards is a great doctor, has really friendly staff and very informative Nurse Practitioners. They explained what options I had available and gave me a breakdown of what to expect in the upcoming months. Only thing to keep in mind, if you have an appointment in MSH 5 E 98th Street, his office is on the 3rd floor and not the 7th floor as indicated.

Eric D. Edwards, MD, is the Chief of Surgery and the Head of the Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery program at Mount Sinai Queens. He is also Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in the Garlock Division of General, Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
He received his medical degree from UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School. He then completed a residency in surgery at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Weill Cornell Medical Center during which time he became interested in helping patients with the metabolic complications of obesity. He went on to complete a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery and bariatric surgery at Lutheran Medical Center/SUNY Health Science Center, Brooklyn.
Dr. Edwards performs advanced minimally invasive surgery in which procedures are performed through small incisions with the aid of a camera and specialized instruments. This allows a patient to have a shorter recovery period and less discomfort than that experienced with conventional surgery.
He performs both laparoscopic and conventional open surgical procedures including gallbladder removal, hernia repair, appendectomy, and colon and rectal surgery. His clinical focus is on bariatric surgery which treats patients with obesity through a variety of procedures such as gastric banding, sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass surgery and biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch. Dr. Edwards finds treating patients with bariatric surgery very rewarding as he sees the transformative effect that it has on his patients’ health and lives. By helping patients achieve significant weight loss, Dr. Edwards enables them to improve the metabolic complications of obesity including diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Dr. Edwards is amazing! I have had my first initial consultation with him and am setup for the process to begin for WLS. He offers a lot of knowledge and will sit and answer any and all of your questions without ever making you feel rushed or silly. Amy chen, the nurse practitioner, is also very thorough and nice. They both help you by providing all the information you need and also allow you to choose how you want to be cared for. I can't wait for the process to move along.

He told to right questions down as they come to me at home so we can discuss it on the next visit. Just starting my bariatric surgery process. Had my first consultation with Dr. Edwards and he was the best so far. I have seen 3 Bariatric surgeons in the past and did not feel comfortable with either the office, MD or staff. This place was clean, efficient and his medical assistant was the best. She was able to find and obtain vein access so easily without pain. Awesome place would recommend.
