Dr. Nolen is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. He later served as a military officer prior to attending medical school at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. He completed residency training at the University of Texas Medical Branch and is board-certified in Family Medicine.
His clinical interests include evidence-based screening and preventive healthcare including immunizations, nutrition and weight management, routine primary care and care for teenagers and adults. He appreciates that many people often do not visit a physician until an illness develops, so he encourages preventive primary care visits. Dr. Nolen follows contemporary expert guidelines and refers patients to specialists when appropriate for complex conditions and shares care with these experts when necessary.
Dr. Nolen views primary care as specializing in diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses and medical conditions. “It allows me to connect with all people because, at some point, everyone experiences ‘conditions’ that I can help them better understand. I can explain to patients if they require treatment or if what they are experiencing is simply a normal part of life.”
When he is not at work, Dr. Nolen enjoys leisure time outdoors with his family and friends and appreciates many genres of recorded and live music, as well as biking and tennis.
