This could have been a very short visit for Dr. Yao, it was for shin splints that were 90% better but my 15year old football player son and I wanted to make sure there wasn't something else that could have been done. It would have been a 3 minute appt with many others. Dr. Yao took his time, did a thorough exam, directed questions to my son but did not ignore the fact that I (mom) was in the room. Respectful, easy to talk with, very informative. Would recommend him to anyone, especially with a sports injury!

Dr. Yao, a sports medicine and knee-replacement specialist, was destined for a career as a physical therapist before having a change of heart and deciding to attend medical school. He even practiced physical therapy during part of his time in medical school. "With my physical therapy training and love of sports, it just seemed like a natural extension," he says. "It's sort of a cliché, but I love the whole aspect of being able to identify a problem and fix it. It's positive reinforcement on a daily basis."
