Erika is conscientious, knowledgeable, and pleasant. She took the time to walk me through each step of the exam and make me comfortable with the procedure. She also asked lots of questions about how I was adapting to a new medication I just started, which I appreciated.

Very attentive, professional, and she is very knowledgeable.
Wonderful, reassuring and not rushed-information is helpful
Excellent service & wonderful bedside manner. Thanks!
I visited her on two different occasions: for an annual check-up/birth control consult and again to have an IUD inserted. She clearly hadn't read my file fully prior to coming in for the first visit and was alarmist in her approach to the exam. I can't say I would recommend her, though she was better on the second visit and her overall bedside manner was fine that time.

I waited a long time and though Erika was professional, so was very cold and impersonal. That said, I didn't distrust her professional opinion.
Erika was wonderful!!!! I've never seen her before so I was taking a risk but this one paid off! She was very genuine in her concern for me and was very reassuring. Excellent bedside manner! Much better than most. She took her time and covered every angle of my care for me. I would definitely go back to her and I'd highly recommend her to anyone needing such services. I felt like a human being rather than just-another-patient. Thanks Erika!!!!!

Erika is absolutely amazing. She is kind, respectful, easy to talk with, always helpful with explanations of treatment options, and very knowledgeable.
Verified patient
She was very informative, professional and friendly and went above the "regular doctor visit" to make sure she covered everything there was and gave extra information that could be extremely helpful in my future.

She is a nice person. However, this was my first appointment with her and me and my husband were disappointed. She nearly scared us when she could not locate our baby's heartbeat for about five minutes. Then she suggested so many genetic testing for our pregnancy and specialist to see. I felt that this was a very negatively focused appointment and that left me and my husband with a bad feeling for the rest of the day. I do not feel at all comfortable that Erika Pineles is the right fit for my prenatal care or health care provider.
Erika was great - very professional, friendly, and made me very comfortable. I would definitely recommend her to my friends and family!
Very nice and informative!

THE GOOD (10/10 for doctor!): Erika and her assistant (student assistant? resident? I'm sorry, I forgot her name) were ABSOLUTELY amazing, kind, thoughtful, and thorough. - they were both beyond patient and understand, thorough in their questioning, and such so kind. I was there for 4 hours.... and they helped me through the pain of the two attempts of IUD insertion (second attempt worked). - Erika did a GREAT job at properly explaining every part of the process, so that in my cramping pain I "braced for impact" was able to more quickly and easily cope with discomfort. - again, I forgot Erika's assistant/resident's name, I am sorry, but she was absolutely amazing and great too. - ERIKA HELD MY HAND (AND LET ME PROBABLY SQUEEZE IT TO DEATH) as I lay writhing (literally) when the other doctor came in to stick expanding stuff into my cervix so I could get the IUD inserted. thank you Erika.... you are great! *note for anyone reading this - most people don't have IUD insertion issues like I do and have, I had some uteral lining that made things REALLY hard, I have previously had 2 failed attempts, which is why I came in to try here. ) **************************************************** Erika gets a million happy stars. ---- The BAD (please note, not related to Erika's great doctor abilities and more so discussing overall appointment at GW) (3/10 for overall GW Medical experience, I honestly doubt I will go again): - initially, the nurse wasn't very "Bedside manner" friendly. I did get the gist that she had been swamped and I completely understand that, especially since (since ZocDoc didn't work) she generally didn't know anything about me which I am sure was frustrating. - There were issues with ZOCDOC (...the whole point of it was to make things easier.....) that made the nurse and the doctors completely unaware of why I had made an appointment, nor did they have any of my medical info... even though I filled out everything on ZocDoc so they would, and also included the referral information that my primary doctor had sent them/me, so that they would have the full story on all the issues. - BECAUSE ZOCDOC didn't do it's job, there was a lot of lag, waiting time, and confusion for all of us... some of which included not-knowing what my primary doctor does or doesn't know about IUD insertion. I certainly can't speak to all her expertise as I am not a doctor, but I do know my primary doctor knew what she was doing the first two attempts at my IUD insertion, and that is why she referred me to a gyno at GW - so I would have more help. - I was annoyed at some of the questions they asked me about her experience - but some of that also is because ZOCDOC didn't do its job in relaying the information that I had FILLED OUT A week prior. They would have had time to communicate with my primary doctor and discuss the reasons for the referral, and see the faxed information etc. - the nurse left after initial introduction - and left me alone for a long time without explaining what she went to do, and didn't come back to check on me. In this time (After half an hour) doctor's assistance/resident came in to check on me and chat with me about my issues and why I was there (10/10!!) I appreciated this, especially since at that point I had been waiting for a total of 2.5 hours since I got to GW. As she was asking questions, the nurse interrupted her and pulled her out into the hallway - and I heard the nurse scolding her for talking to me, and the doctor's assistant/resident responded saying "she has been waiting there for a while, and I wanted to get information as to why she was here so we know..." (THIS WAS APPROPRIATE AND I THANK YOU) - again, I understand the nurse's frustrations, her busy load, plus the zocdoc stuff not working so she had to I imagine jump through hoops to piece together my referral and insurance information in regards to birth control (WHICH AGAIN WAS COVERED in the information I put in for zocdoc...... so again, ZOCDOC, this app.... caused issues...) - but I didn't like that the nurse did that, because before the resident/assistant came in, I had been internally stressing on my own for half an hour waiting - to see if I actually could get what I had COME IN or not, and worrying I would not get the IUD insertion and continue on with the issues I had been having. - finally, final bad thing: after first attempt (it had been 3 hours or 3 and a half hours at this point?), the doctor went to get another doctor who came in, quick intro, and stepped in, got things done. I appreciated this. However (likely because I had been there for so long and everyone wanted to leave ASAP) - he did not first explain what he was going to do. I assumed it would be similar to what Erika did. it WAS NOT. I don't even remember what they said it was, I asked but I also was in a lot of pain afterwards so I don't remember, but something about dilating/pushing expanding metal into my cervix (3 gauges), and the LAST GAUGE hurt like a mother and I was writhing and crying (And squeezing Erika's hand, thank you!). IT was very painful, and it needed to happen, but warning me about that happening would have been good, i was NOT READY. I'm good at setting myself up for pain, and so it was way worse. But I think that may have been also due to just the time pressure of trying to get things done fast. He did a great job, just next time - make sure to remember to explain things if it is different

She is incredible. She is so knowledgeable, easy to talk with, and makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. I would highly recommend her to anyone.

Erika is great-- thorough, takes her time, empathetic. However, the wait time once brought back to the exam room was unacceptable. I am unlikely to return.
A prime example of "treating the patient" not just the issue, etc. I went to Erika for my yearly check-up - highly, highly recommend!
Verified patient
She was great - asked questions to clarify the issues I needed looked into, was very friendly and offered options for me to choose from without pushing one or another. She also set me up for the next round of assessments, which was great considering that time between appointments can be long. I will definitely continue seeing her, and would highly recommend her to other patients.
Saw Erika Pineles-Mark for an annual exam and she made me feel very comfortable, walked me through everything she was doing, and offered informative and no bias advice about birth control options. Highly recommended!
Verified patient
Erika was very thorough in the exam, asking as many questions and answering any concerns I had. She had great bedside manners, and I would definitely visit her again.
I appreciate that she was thorough in finding the cause for issues, and didn't assume it was attributed to any one cause without proof (bloodwork).
Dr. Pineles-Mark was professional, caring, and informative. She provided me with and explained all of my healthcare options, provided referrals for follow-up, and was just overall caring and patient, going out of her way to make sure I was comfortable. Cannot recommend highly enough.
Verified patient
Erika was very nice and easy going. She made me feel comfortable to ask whatever questions and express whatever concerns I had. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone. She is knowledgeable, willing to educate and explain things and you can tell she enjoys her job. I will definitely make an appointment with her again!
She was absolutely fantastic. I'm always nervous at the OB-GYN but her bedside manner was great and I felt very comfortable with her. The staff was also fantastic and very helpful. Overall a great experience and I will definitely be back to see her next year.
