Francisco G. Pernas received a Bachelor in Science with a major in Biology and a chemistry minor from the University of Miami in 2001. He then pursued a degree in medicine at the University of Miami. Following that he completed a post-doctoral research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health researching several chemotherapy medications currently being used in the treatment of Head and Neck cancer. He then successfully completed his formal Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery training at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Tx., a 5 year ACGME accredited institution serving as chief resident the last year of residency.
Dr. Pernas excelled in his residency program achieving a high clinical volume in all aspects of Otolaryngologic care. He was awarded the Resident award in May, 2011 for outstanding research amongst his colleagues and received a Pine award in February 2008 for excellence in Otolaryngology.
Dr. Pernas treats adult and pediatric patients with ENT and Facial Plastics related conditions. His specialties include:

Came in with sinus problem and one ear clogged, Dr. Pernas took the time to explain what the problem was and what should I do in order to get better. Very professional staff, I highly recommended it. The waiting time was over 30 min but not too bad, the office was very busy today.

I had impacted wax in both ears. Dr. Pernas was very patient and meticulous in extracting the wax and suddenly I recovered my full hearing.

I made the appointment using ZOCDOC which I find very convenient specially that is so hard to get to people over the phone. But I did had the following issue: I made the appointment for the Kendall office and the systems was showing the address for the Kendall office but the appointment was for the Homestead office. Thank God I called the day before the appointment and this is how I found out that the appointment was in Homestead!!!!

Due to a scheduling mixup the location of the appointment was different from the location I presented to a different Baptist location - the receptionist made sure that I would still be seen at my regularly scheduled time
at the new location. Additionally, the office and exam rooms were immaculate the the staff was polite, professional, and efficient. Dr. Pernas was both professional and welcoming and provided me with an explanation of all procedures and results. Highly highly recommended.

I came 1 hour 1/2 early to appointment. Couple of minutes before they came back from lunch a patient walked in. It seems to be that that patient was friends of receptionist, and she let her in before me that I had put my name way before her. I think that was very unprofessional buy office staff. This happened 1/15/2016 Besides that everything else went smooth, but they should treat every patient equally. Doctor was very professional and explained everything to point. He also performed a procedure on spot and made me feel very satisfied with consultation. Days after I called Dr and he answered 1 day after that wasn't very nice but he must have his reasons.

Ideal location easy to park. All my experience was great, front desk, insurance coordinatior and drs assistants were very nice.The waiting time less than 30 minutes.
The Dr was A+ took the time to listen and understand my concerns. Painles treatment without any drama (I know Drs that love to make you super nervous about nothing).
I would definitely recommend Dr. Pernas to anyone, he is also very sweet with kids (my 3 yrs old was with me all the time)
Just make sure to call the office to verify if they accept your insurance Zoc Doc states they do not accept AETNA open access but they Do.
