Frederick P. Schwaibold, DO has practiced radiation oncology in the Metro Atlanta area for almost 25 years, spending the majority of time at Piedmont Hospital. He has treated over 15,000 patients and has performed over 2,000 prostate brachytherapy cases. He was one of the first practitioners in Georgia to specialize in live, real-time intraoperative treatment planning. He successfully introduced IMRT treatment to Piedmont Hospital over 10 years ago and has continued to be a leader in the adoption of new technology to the field of radiation oncology. Dr. Schwaibold launched the first stereotactic body radiosurgery program in the state of Georgia, over 6 years ago and has a very large and active stereo body radiosurgery practice today.
Dr. Scwaibold graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in science from Albright College. He then received his osteopathic medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He underwent residency training at Robert Wood Johnson in Camden, New Jersey and went on to complete his fellowship training at Johns Hopkins Hospital and the University of Pennsylvania. After completing his residency, he joined the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania, where he gained extensive experience treating breast cancer and head and neck cancer. Dr.

Schwaibold has published numerous papers and co-authored a chapter on breast cancer.
He recently received the American Top Oncologists Award by the Consumer Research Council of America. He was the American Cancer Society Evening of Hope medal honoree for the year 2010.
