There was a long wait, and the office did not seem to have gotten the appointment from ZocDoc, even though they confirmed it on December 2011. It turned out that Dr. Klein was not available today (supposedly attending to an emergency at the hospital, but the clipboard at the reception showed no appointments today for him). However, in the end I saw his partner, Dr. Douglas Birns, and the appointment went well, so I do not have a serious complaint.

The experience was a mixed bag. They saw me earlier than my appointment -- perhaps a first in the history of U.S. medicine -- because I had finished with an appointment at the other practice that shares the office space. I did not care much for the doctor's bedside manner; he seemed to do all the talking and have made up his mind before examining or talking to me. It was difficult for me to get a word in edgewise. He mostly seemed interested in getting me to buy an herbal concoction that they sell at the office. The way that they submitted the paperwork to my insurance company caused the latter to deny the claim. Only on the third try did insurance accept it. In the meantime, the prescription that he had called to a pharmacy went with the original, incorrect paperwork, which meant that they would not fill it. By the time the insurance company had accepted the claim based on the amended paperwork, I had returned overseas -- we do not live in the U.S. -- and it was too late to straighten out the prescription story.

Doctor Klein is a well seasoned urologist backed by a lifetime of experience and a great education. He seems to be a caring nice gentleman who has the best interest of his patient at heart. Once I got into see him, he was not rushed and took his time to counsel and advise me on what was going on and what I needed to do. It was more than just clinical; he looks at the patient in the context of their life and gives them relevant diagnostics and prescriptive life changes of both body and mind. I really like his approach to medicine. His office staff was equally as kind. HOWEVER, the wait time was not good - at a little more than an hour. Doctor Klein needs to focus on this. Still a great experience however.
