Dr. Gitanjali Baveja, a board certified ophthalmologist, completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania and went on to do her medical education at George Washington University. While an intern at Washington Hospital Center, she received the Best Intern award in honor of her outstanding performance. She then completed her residency in ophthalmology at the University of Virginia. She treats patients for a wide variety of corneal conditions, general ophthalmology, and refractive surgery.
Dr. Baveja has presented her research in ocular trauma and neuro-ophthalmology at ARVO (Association for Research in Vision in Ophthalmology). In addition, she has given several presentations on a wide variety of topics, including: ocular leprosy, sympathetic ophthalmia, HIV related complications, advances in cataract surgery, the role of acupuncture in ophthalmology, and anterior segment complications.
