Dr. Gregory L. Cowan is a highly skilled and experienced fellowship-trained ophthalmologist who has practiced at Mid Island Eye Physicians and Surgeons for over 17 years. Dr. Cowan is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and completed both parts of his examination with honors. He also previously served as an Associate Examiner for the Board.
While attending medical school at George Washington University Medical School, Dr. Cowan was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society during his junior year, and was also a recipient of the A. Horowitz Award for receiving the highest score on Part I of the National Board of Medical Examination.
After receiving his medical degree, Dr. Cowan completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Winthrop University Hospital and his residency training in Ophthalmology at Mount Sinai Medical Center. To further his training, Dr. Cowan also completed a fellowship in Glaucoma at Mount Sinai.
With specialized training in glaucoma, Dr. Cowan has performed thousands of laser procedures for the treatment of glaucoma and offers the SLT "cold laser" technology to glaucoma patients. He also offers a wide array of comprehensive diagnostic testing.
