Following graduation with honors from Dartmouth College, he attended the University of Virginia Medical School and completed his internship and orthopedic surgery residency at Northwestern University.
From his sports medicine center in Glenview, Dr. Portland treats a number of knee and shoulder related injuries that are common among athletes. With experience providing care for Chicago professional sports teams during his residency, Australian Rules football players in his fellowship, and elite collegiate and high school athletes in practice, Dr. Portland knows how to perform many surgeries necessary to keep athletes healthy, including arthroscopic knee surgery.
