Dr. Khan-Farooqi recently arrived in Austin from the Harvard Medical School Department of Ophthalmology/Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, where he completed a Clinical Fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery in June 2015. While at Harvard/MEEI, Dr. Khan-Farooqi frequently staffed the HMS/MEEI Emergency Ward, a regional hub for eye disease in the Northeast, where he treated a spectrum of eye disease from conjunctivitis to traumatic rupture of the eye, and served as a consultant to many of the local area hospitals. Due to his recent completion of fellowship, he is up-to-date on the most recent advancements associated with his areas of expertise. Areas of expertise: Routine eye exams Urgent eye care ("red eyes," eye infections, corneal ulceration, contact lens-related issues, blurry vision, loss of vision) Refractive surgery (LASIK, LASEK, PRK, ICL) Corneal surgery/transplantation (Penetrating keratoplasty, partial thickness corneal transplantation [DSAEK, DMEK], keratoprosthesis) Keratoconus (Contact lenses, PROSE referrals, INTACS, acute hydrops) Ocular surface injury (thermal and chemical injuries, abrasions, lacerations) Advanced Dry Eye Syndrome (Sjogrens syndrome,Graft-versus-host disease) and treatments (punctal plugs, autologous serum tears) Ocular surface lesions (pterygium, pingueculum, CIN, melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma) Cataract surgery Premium cataract surgery Complex cataract surgery Eyelid disorders (Dermatochalasis, Chalazion, Styes, Ptosis) Botox injections (blepharospasms, cosmetic) Glaucoma screenings Mild to moderate Glaucoma There is a dedicated optical shop and Contact Lens Specialist on site.
