I know it sounds cliché, but I got into medicine because I really wanted to help people. Even if I only help one person lead a healthier and longer life, it makes my career choice all worthwhile. Because that one person is someone’s child, someone’s parent, someone’s mentor, someone’s inspiration, someone’s friend, someone that could make a positive impact on the world.
I love that our practice emphasizes patient care above all. I think our patients are tough and resilient when faced with issues concerning their kidney health, and I admire them for that strength. I also like the camaraderie between the group members. We encourage each other to do our best.
My philosophy of care is not only to treat my patient’s health issues, but to also educate them so that they can take an active role in their health management. I can prescribe medications to my patients, but if my patient doesn’t understand the reason why I am prescribing a certain medication then what stops them from not taking it? Knowledge will empower them to make wiser decisions about their health.
