She's very patient with grumpy people who generally dislike doctor appointments of any kind. She was very prompt, thorough and friendly. If she had a tip jar I would have left her one.

Originally from New York City, Dr. Irene Chen moved to the Seattle area in 1994 and has been practicing optometry in Monroe, Washington for the past 18 years. Proudly serving patients from ages 3 to 103 from all over Snohomish County, Dr. Chen decided to expand her love and dedication to eye care by opening a practice in Shoreline, WA in 2011. She believes in providing the highest quality eye care coupled with offering the most technologically advance vision products available.
She also feels strongly about addressing and educating each patient's individual needs. Patients will definitely not experience a 'one size fits all' type of service.
Dr. Chen stays current with the latest in eye care through continuing education courses and attending various trade shows. Her professional interests include pediatric vision care, treatment of dry eyes, contact lens fittings and pathology.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, John, tasting new foods, meeting new people, seeing new sites and sharing a good laugh together as well as with friends.

Dr. Chen was amazing, both in her bedside manner and the thorough, competent manner in which she treated my family.
My child , who is generally very guarded, told me how at ease she felt in Dr. Chen's care!

Dr. Chen is wonderful. Very professional and knowledgeable. Once my exam was completed, she came out front with me and was very proactive in the frame choices I made, very honest and upfront with my choices. Her front office staff is great too!

She seems very knowledgeable with the latest equipement. I was really surprised at how efficient and integrated the entire appointment was. My main reasons for not rating her higher are (1) her office is directly below some business which creates a lot of noise and (2) her Shoreline location may be too far out for most people.
