Dtr Hertsik is an excellent Podiatrist. After years of pain and cortisone shots, I finally found Dr Hertsik. He operated as a last resort and now my pain is gone and my post surgery pain surprisingly low! I am now considering the other foot! I highly recommend this dr.

Dr. Herstik was the section chief of Podiatry – Department of Orthopedics at St. Vincent’s Hospital Medical Center – Manhattan until the Hospital closed in 2010. He continues to be involved in the training of the Podiatric Residents, as well as training and assisting other Podiatrists. Additionally, he works in the Beth Israel Hospital Wound Care Center treating and managing lower-leg and foot ulcers, as well as wounds that develop from a multitude of conditions, including diabetes, HIV, and vascular disease. Utilizing a team approach, special trained wound care nurses and physicians, including a team of Vascular Surgeons, Infectious Disease Specialists, and Pedorthotists, manage and treat foot ulcers with the newest wound care dressings and devices.
When not in the office, Dr. Herstik enjoys living in suburban New York with his wife and three children. Keeping active, healthy and fit is an important part of his lifestyle, a goal he trys to instill in his patients everyday.

The doctor's assistant spoke to me for about 15 minutes. He discussed the problem and was quite helpful.
Dr Herstik then came into the examination room and made several attempts to try and relieve the pain in my heel. He was unsuccessful.
He then determined that I should try a Matrix Trulife brace. He would order it and have it available in a few days. He then left me with his assistant. He never explained how the brace would work and why he recommended this specific brace. I would have liked more discussion about my problem and why he felt this brace would be a solution to relieve the pain in my heel.
He only spent 7 minutes discussing my problem. His assistant was quite helpful, but I left not knowing what the solution was.

I am always please when I go to see Dr. Herstik, his main concern is how you are doing...any pain or discomfort he always addresses first. He listens and is sympathetic and immediately addresses how to resolve your issue. I walked out of his office out of pain and assured that I could contact him at any time should I need to.

Dr. Herstik immediately diagnosed problem, demonstrated problem so I could see nerve damage in right foot, vs. left; quickly taped up & padded my foot providing instant pain relief, provided me with additional tape and pads and rx for follow up care, and invited me back for followup visit in one week.

Dr Herstik is a great doctor and podiatrist. He's excellent at diagnosing problems, providing non-invasive solutions that provide relief, and has a great bedside manner. Highly recommend him.

Dr. Herstik was very personable and efficient. He's very competent, professional, direct, and he did not try to sell me a treatment that I didn't need.
My only complaint is the very long wait time I experienced: I arrived at 4pm sharp for my appointment, had the paperwork completed in advance, signed a few papers, paid my co-pay, and was led to an office about 10 minutes after I arrived. After this, I had to wait ~30 minutes in a patient room until I was actually seen by Dr. Herstik. It wasn't a huge deal, and I understand these things happen, but I probably would have left had an assistant not checked up on me.
That being said, I would definitely return and highly recommend Dr. Herstik to other patients.
