Dr. Tangir earned his medical degree at the Universidad Central de Venezuela in Caracas. He completed a research fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA; a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, CT and a fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at Yale University.
More recently, Dr. Tangir trained at Université Laval, in Quebec City, Canada in minimally invasive surgery for gynecologic cancer.
Dr. Tangir is Board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Nova Southeastern University and participates actively in teaching residents and medical students.
As a specialist in gynecologic cancer, Dr. Tangir has written several articles and book chapters in the field of Gynecologic Oncology and has presented his results in national and international meetings.
His areas of expertise include radical and Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (laparoscopic and robotic) for treatment of gynecologic cancers as well as for complex non-malignant gynecologic conditions; fertility-preserving cancer surgery, modern chemotherapy and palliative care.
Dr. Tangir has been among the first surgeons to use robotic gynecologic surgery to treat benign and malignant gynecologic problems in several hospitals in South Florida.
