I enjoy working with clients who want to undertake the often rigorous but ultimately rewarding journey of psychotherapy towards self-evolution. This is through the reflection and interpretation of defenses, -blind spots-, that are obstacles to best living. My strengths are working with people who take responsibility for their lives but are struggling in moving forward due to painful or distressing life situations, whether past or current. My approach offers no magic remedies, but through conversation based on respect and straightforward comments, together we aim to improve your quality of life.
I have spent the past 20 years in a private practice working with those who present with troubles in living. I service mostly adults but have much experience with children and adolescents as well. Outside of my private practice, I have also devoted much of my time to helping marginalized populations that are under-served in general in our society.
I am trained and experienced in examining life problems and I maintain my demeanor as a neutral observer dedicated to taking the journey with you towards increased personal enlightenment, evolved functioning, and interpersonal growth.
Your privacy is of utmost importance to me. I take a personal history of all new clients and records in writing. That, and subsequent information on the case, is kept private and confidential. I do not use electronic technology in record-keeping or in communication with clients, or only the latter if client initiates email or text communication with me, implying acceptance of such a form of contact.
The office and relationship are private, as confidentiality is of key importance. There is street parking or a parking lot in the building. Therapy sessions are generally weekly and last the "50-minute hour" unless set up otherwise. I accept some insurances; however, the patient will be responsible for full fee payment for missed sessions not cancelled within 24 hours. While online booking is part of the ZocDoc benefit and service, I do prefer to speak on the phone prior to first meeting with the patient.
