After graduating from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, he completed his psychiatric training at Columbia University in New York City. He also obtained a Masters Degree from Columbia University in Community and Social Psychiatry. He has been the Director of Psychiatry at East Orange General Hospital for 25 years, building a comprehensive psychiatric program.
Dr. Maryanne Cowan, Ph.D. sparked his interest in alternative medicine in 1992. They now operate the Advanced Dimensions in Healing a complementary medicine and wellness center in Ridgewood, New Jersey. Their practice has grown into The Cowan Wellness Center. Dr. Cowan offers a variety of specialties including BioIdentical Hormone Treatment, Anti-Aging Medicine, Psychiatry and Psychopharmacology.
