James H. Frank, MD provides expert diagnostic and procedural skills in evaluation and treatment of conditions affecting the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, rectum, liver and pancreas. He has been practicing gastroenterology in the Washington metro area since 1983. His office is located on the corner of 19th Street and M Street (minutes from George Washington Hospital).

Experience was negative from the start.
At check-in I had to fill in all of the patient registration forms in spite of having already done them on ZocDoc - when I told them I had already done everything on ZocDoc and showed them the text reminder from ZocDoc they told me "sorry, oh well".
Upon getting into the exam room an extremely polite medical assistant took my vitals and weight and asked me why I was there. Following a brief wait, Dr. Frank came in and began asking basic questions. After finishing his questions and listening to my abdomen for 10 seconds he declared I needed testing done and immediately left. He was with me for a maximum of 4 minutes.
When the medical assistant came back in to take my blood I was shocked to learn that the doctor was not coming back in - he did not talk to me about possible causes of my problem, things I might need to look out for, why what was happening to me was happening, or possible courses of treatment! He didn't even tell me he was done with the exam or when/if I needed to come back!
Dr. Frank seems to have mastered the process of minimizing time with patients (thanks to an apparent lack of concern) and milking insurance. At 4 minutes per patient no wonder he is smiling in his profile pic, no time to care and lots of time to collect payments!

I went in as a long time sufferer of Acid Reflux. Dr. Frank was direct and friendly with me. He took the time to explain everything in detail including all the treatment options available. He is very knowledgeable and come across like an old friend immediately.

Dr Frank is no nonsense and tough on us the stupid patients...which I think is exactly the right approach. But I most particularly liked how he went to bat for me to get my insurance straight and not have to come back to the office for another procedure...very rare to see an office going the whole nine yards for the patient. Really liked this group.

Despite the wait time, (30+ minutes), Dr. James Frank was exceptional. He was incredibly thorough with listening to my issues and explaining next steps and how we can approach a treatment. Most doctors just attempt to push out as many patients as possible these days and it was refreshing to meet Dr. Frank who seemed genuinely invested in finding solutions to my ailments.
