Dr. Gough is a wonderful pediatrician. Our son has been seeing him from a week old. He will be turning 12 this year. My son has been kept healthy because of his holistic approach in keeping kids healthy.

Doctor Gough has seen my sons for years now and he makes you feel like part of his family. He picks up when you call, and believes in holistic/home remedies wayyyyy before any medications will even be in the equation. He still annoys me when he is typing, he needs talk to text cause that two finger typing isn't working lol.

More about Dr. James Gough, MD

We have rigorous training in medicine and insist on state-of-the-art methods of diagnosis and treatment for all our patients. We also have profound respect for the natural world and emphasize the value of natural processes such as breastfeeding and continuing good nutrition. In combining rigorous medical science and a profound respect for nature we’re aiming at a more “wholistic” approach to health and disease in which we want to see our patients recover quickly from illness in the short term but also to make decisions that bring lasting benefits over the long term. The characteristic of our practice that we find most important is teaching, more precisely collaborative teaching. We have knowledge, experience and expertise, but so do you, and you know your child better than we ever can. Rather than writing a prescription for every diagnosis, we see our role as presenting our best thoughts and ideas, asking you for yours, and explaining the most up-to-date medical recommendations. By working together in a collaborative effort, we believe that we will all have the best chance of coming up with a reasonable understanding of the issues and a practical, effective approach to management that works best for you, your family and the particular circumstances of your child. Call our office and come on by. We’d love to meet you and we also welcome prenatal visits. Introducing ourselves beforehand can make things a whole lot easier once the baby arrives. Whether for a general check-up or the most difficult medical problem imaginable, please do call! We’ll be there to help in every way we can.

I will not be going back to this clinic and here is why. This was my third time visiting the clinic and second time seeing Dr. Gough. The first time seeing him the visit was not the best but wasn't too bad either. The second time though, my daughter had been sick and been running a temp for a few days and Tylenol was not working. The doctor: 1 Spent most of his time on the computer documenting rather than engaging us. Occasionally looked back at me to ask questions then back to the computer for the majority of the time we spent with him. 2 Did not once acknowledged or address my daughter who was the actual patient. My daughter who is 2 was already anxious and frightened of the strange man. As a result, she was crying nonstop but the doc talked over her anyways. Gave her my phone to calm her down, He ordered me to take it back, then ordered me to give it to her once he realized she stopped crying while holding the phone. 3 Made me feel like I was taking a test by asking unrelated questions Ex: how many hours I work. If I have dinner with my kids every night. 4 Disrespected me and my child throughout the visit and rushed us out to call in another couple and their young baby. Very poor interpersonal skills and even worst bedside manners. Will not recommend him at all.

My husband and I really appreciated Dr. Gogh's quirky sense of humor as he put our first time parenting paranoia at ease. He also showed great compassion for our individual situation despite it being out of alignment with conventional best practices. Though, he was very straightforward and clear about what he recommends and what we should be doing. He doesn't mince words so if you're over sensitive you may not appreciate his straight talk, but we did. I feel good about Dr. Gogh and his approach with our newborn.
Verified patient
Great service, humor, and advice as always.
Verified patient
He is very brash and impatient . When you ask him questions he minimizes your research and understanding on matters . He is too dogmatic . not the best bed side manners . would not recommend him .

Dr. Gough has been tye doctor for both of my children since they were born ...my son is now 20 and the other one is 13.. I cannot praise him enough. He never makes you feel that he's rushing you out of his office and always takes time to listen to everything you have to say... and offer great advice.. Just keep that in mind when you come to see him that you may wait a little longer ...and that's because he's giving whatever patient is there before you the time and patience that you will get

Dr. Gough is very thorough and he showed such concern for my new born. He visited us 3 times when we were in the hospital, our discharge from the hospital was easy and he made sure to follow up via phone. He is always pleasant and gave us excellent advice about travelling with our new born! Thanks Dr. Gough, you rock!

We're regular patients for Dr. Gough. I called his office at 2:30, and saw him by 3. His staff did all the basics within minutes of getting there. Dr. Gough himself saw us quckly, went through all the notes, followed up on earlier treatments, did an examination, and had us reassured and on our way.

Es un Dr muy chevere el mejor Dr.

Dr. Gough was a great pediatrician. His organic practice was a breath of fresh air for my husband and I. If we didn't move out of Brooklyn we would still be taking our daughter to him. He can be reached via an automated paging system that sends him a message if you call the office and leave a voicemail explaining your concerns. He was very timely with returning our phone calls and giving us step by step instructions on how to take care of my daughter's fever at the time. For new parents, it was quite comforting having the support of Dr. Gough.

Met Dr Gough before I gave birth. He was delightful, but he was away during my hospital stay. Ended up seeing Dr Max who is wonderful! She's patient, thorough and offers great advice for baby care and lactation. Staff often walks in to interrupt her, which I find rude. Otherwise I recommend the practice in general.
Verified patient
We were very happy to have picked Dr. Gough as our children's pediatrician! We were very satisfied not only with his proffesionalism but with his caring attitude and great way of connecting with his patients.
Verified patient
It was very good, this would be my second visit. I hope that they as an office maintain communication with the doctors and patients.. I felt that I should have been told or given an update on time while I was sitting in the room for at least 30 minutes before I had to let the front desk know I was at a meter.. Especially having a newborn, I have times specified for breast feeding and etc.. But I will give the benefit of the doubt and say this was an off day.. The doctor did apologize for the wait.. But I was still a bit frustrated seeing that no one came to my room and let me know what was going on.
Verified patient
He was kind to both my son and me. He spent time to make sure he understood our concerns and explained things to us in a way that we could understand.
I just love the welcoming feeling where the staff is fully aware of their patients by name not by number. I appreciate how attentive the doctors are and how much concern they take in the patients' well being.

Couldn't have asked for a better visit.
Verified patient
Reassuring, helpful and fun. He gave us a plan for our newborn when we brought him home from the hospital and was available for any questions we had.

I love this doctor! He's very knowledgeable and genuinely loves what he does - which comes across in a very positive manner with his patients.

Amazing doctor. Answers all questions patiently and thoroughly. Great with the kids. He's been both my children's doctor since birth. There's always a bit of a wait but there are tons of books and toys in the waiting area to keep the kids busy.
Verified patient
It was a wonderful thorough visit
I can appreciate the doctor's comfort with my children especially since it was their visit with Dr. Gough. Also I like how quick the visit was, and their seection of toys and books really helped... having small kids waiting can become dreadful.
Verified patient
I really appreciate the nurses and their friendliness. James Gough, MD was very cheerful and informative. We felt very comfortable.
Verified patient
No wait time and he got straight to the point. I did feel a bit rushed but that may have been because I was a little late for my appointment. Overall, it was good.
I normally see Dr. Minkin but my child got sick on a friday night we were able to call saturday morning and make a appointment which he saw Dr. Gough and was treated quickly.
Very informative and caring doctor.
I wanted to delay my vaccines- spread them out. Dr. Gough was strongly opposed- but we worked out a comprise. I was very pleased.
