Dr. James Halper is board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Psychiatry. He attended Columbia College and College of Physicians and Surgeons Columbia University, did his residency training in Medicine at Columbia Presbyterian and Stanford University Hospitals, and trained in Psychiatry at Payne Whitney Clinic (New York Hospital). He completed research fellowships at the National Institutes of Health, Rockefeller University, and Payne Whitney Clinic and is the recipient of numerous research awards and the author of many scientific and medical articles and book chapters.
Dr. Halper is well known for his innovative use of a variety of treatment modalities for patients with refractory psychiatric disorders. He is considered an expert in neurological functioning of the “brain.”
