Very efficient and very nice person!
Good summary of condition and what I was to do to proceed with further treatment.
Great deal on Botox
It was good Listened tomy concerns and thughtfully explained whathe was recommending and why Very satisfied
I went in to have what could have been a piece of glass or splinter removed from my finger. The doctor slowly scraped skin from my finger with a scalpel until he said "Uh oh, you're bleeding very briskly". He tried to stop the bleeding for maybe 3 minutes then said it was bleeding too much and to come back next week. He put a bandage on it and told me to leave. I refused to rebook and to find another doctor. When I reached the first floor I looked down and saw blood was dripping from my hand onto the floor and was all over my clothes. I went back up, quite angry, told the doctor he needs to help stop the bleeding. He numbed my entire hand, and cauterized it with an electric cauterizer. I can't imagine telling a patient bleeding badly to leave and come back next week. I felt unsafe, I did not trust him, seemed panicked when I started bleeding. I had to miss work since I couldn't work with a numbed hand. I saw another doctor that day who was appalled at what had been done. At the very least don't let him pick up anything sharp around you. This was the poorest experience I have had with any medical professional.
I really appreciated the time that Dr. Hu spent with going over my situation. I didn't feel rushed and felt like he actually cared and wanted to help fix the problem. The receptionist was wonderful and welcoming. Would definitely recommend.
Dr Hu is very calm and friendly. He is definitely knowledgeable and experienced and gives me the diagnosis right away. It was truly effective treatment.
I will never go back here. The first appointment he came to 45 minutes late. I believe he got back late from lunch and had the slot right after lunch double booked. The second appointment when I got there I found out he was running 30 minutes late. So I left. What's the point of an appointment if he never keeps them?
He is very good and has lots of experience. Wait time is the biggest drawback.
Not the warmest bedside manner, but not unfriendly either. I did feel well attended and he answered all of my questions.
Great office visit.
Dr. Hu has been my dermatologist for years. My annual checkups take care of problems while they're minor, and he can always fit me in quickly in an emergency. He's kind, considerate and, most importantly, smart.
Dr. Hu is very professional, thoughtful and skilled. He took his time to be precise with my treatment today. I am very happy with his expertise.
Dr. Hu needs to change his business practices so patients can understand what they are paying for. Medical part of this visit went just about as well as a biopsy on the nose could. However, Dr. Hu gets 1 star because of he sent a bill with no description of the services rendered, just some esoteric procedure codes, requiring immediate payment. To me this is an unethical way to treat your patients. Requiring someone to immediately pay a bill without providing the ability to understand what they are paying for is just wrong. Next time I will use a different dermatologist
Dr Hu is excellent, smart and caring. Highly recommended.
Dr. Hu made me feel very uncomfortable. He was very unclear about the things he was telling me, and was less than professional, he gave off an awkward vibe and the whole consultation was uncomfortable. Wouldn't recommend in the slightest. The product he recommended to clear up my skin he simply scribbled eligibily on a crumpled post it note that I could hardly read.
I liked James, he is a very calm person and gives you time to express your concerns.
It was a weird appointment.
Dr. Hu was great. His staff was very helpful and they managed to get me into my appointment within 5 minutes of my arrival. Dr. Hu himself was kind, knowledgeable and seemed to genuinely care about my well-being. My in-office procedure was quick and painless, and I'm very satisfied with his work. I would recommend Dr. Hu.
Visited 3 times. Made me wait more than an hour every single time. Reluctant to prescribe refills even when asked multiple times.
I got to my appointment on time, took 5min to fill out paperwork, and then waited for 50min before I was even shown into a room. This was after someone else showed up after me and was seen by the doctor. I then waited for another 15min before seeing the doctor. I almost walked out because I had purposely scheduled the appointment during my lunch break. When I finally did see the doctor (and met him for the first time) he was pretty to the point and didn't really ask me a lot of questions about my condition (acne). He then prescribed a treatment that to meet seemed a bit excessive and did not take the time to fully explain it. I asked a lot of questions that I felt he should have talked over with me and I shouldn't have had to prod him for. When I took the time to read all of the paperwork he had me fill out and ask questions about the various side effects, he said most of it wasn't true and most people didn't actually read the forms and just filled them out. Who doesn't read a prescription form that has a ton of really serious side effects and health implications? I had read a lot of positive reviews for him and it's likely that his prescription will help, but I definitely did not feel like he did due diligence to fully explain various options and give me all the necessary information. My long wait experience might have colored my appointment, but I left with a felling of disappointment, not with a feeling of yes, this solution is great for me. Hope that helps.
Dr. Hu was very thorough. Took time to answer my questions. Never felt rushed during the visit..
Dr. Hu is very helpful and answered a lot of my questions. Overall a positive experience.
Dr. Hu made me feel unsafe and uncomfortable. One time I had a rash that was breaking out on my thighs and neck. I just showed him the rash on my neck since I was wearing a skirt and tights, and you couldn't see the rash because it was on my upper thigh. He was sitting very close to me and asked me to show him the rash on my thigh. I waited for him to get up and leave the room, or give me a gown or something, so I could change, but he remained sitting close to me, looking directly at me. This made me uncomfortable because it was obvious by what I was wearing I wouldn't be able to show him the rash without pulling my tights off and exposing my entire bottom torso. I sat there awkwardly for a few seconds, feeling kinda nervous. I think he noticed this and eventually swung his chair around to face the wall (not leave). I was really uncomfortable but I pulled down my tights to have him examine the rash. A doctor shouldn't give you a "bad feeling" that makes you question your safety. All doctors should know to give their patients privacy when asking them to disrobe. I changed doctors immediately after this interaction. I know it's typical to disrobe at the dermatologist's office, but this wasn't typical. I've changed at doctor's offices enough times to know that this wasn't standard practice. Dr. Hu is a creep and his receptionist is apathetic to patients. I was a little nervous to come forward with this information, but I think it's important to spread information like this so that other people don't experience what I did.
I'm not sure. He seemed okay. Not the best bedside manner I've ever seen, but he did answer my questions. Although, his staff was extremely rude to me about my insurance information and I heard them talking openly about other patients in front of me.
Dr.Hu is very patient, kind and treats patients with a lot of respect. I went for my acne and he not only explained to me the kind of acne I have but also gave me details about why the treatment he suggests is necessary. He gave us a tume frame within which to expect results. He talked about the expected course my acne would take. He gavebus all the time we needed. I couldn't want more from a doctor.
What a lovely man. Calm, knowledgeable and caring. He listened and addressed all my concerns and took care of things on the spot. Definitely coming back and absolutely recommending Dr Hu.
The most condescending bedside manner of any doctor I've ever seen. Wouldn't listen to what I had used in the past, even though it worked and was gentler on my skin than the expensive product he prescribed. After trying to get the prescription, I had to call back and speak with him because it was too expensive and insurance wouldn't cover it. He told me that having health insurance from the exchange was basically like not have insurance at all, which I found incredibly insulting. My job doesn't offer insurance, so what else am I supposed to do?
they were experiencing computer difficulties so the wait time was very long. however, the wait was minimal the last time i was there.
Dr. Hu was incredibly understanding and realistic in my possible options with moving forward, and Christina was very helpful with figuring out insurance issues, would highly recommend to new patients.
Was treated in a professional manner. Dr was very nice and considerate. Ask about all my concerns. I will be switching from my old doctor to him.
Dr. Hu is very educated and informative. Pleasant demeanor.
He was very knowledgeable and thorough! Answered all of my questions and addressed all of my concerns. Made me feel very comfortable!
Excellant visit he explained everything so I could understand it. Great dr. I would highly recommend
Very patient. Listens to you carefully and his diagnosis was spot on. Came with a irritation on my face and it disappeared within a week.
He spent time asking me questions, gave me a diagnosis, and explained his line of reasoning behind it. He then clearly explained what each prescription would do, and fully answered all of the questions that I had. Would definitely recommend!
Great experience. Liked Dr. Hu.
He's great. He mixes vitamins with medication.
Amazing, he really made me feel like he cared and was going to do his best to solve my problem. Absolutely would reccomend him!!
Just terrible experience! Worst doctor visit I have ever had. The man looked puzzled the whole time and I left the clinic more confused than ever. I can not believe this doctor has license! Terrible communication skills and dead personality. RUN!
I liked him. To the point and yet personable.
The doctor walked in while I was changing and didn't knock, so I was taken totally aback. At least I was done changing, but it was very unprofessional and he did not even apologize. He then looked at some of my dry spots that I was concerned about for less than 1 minute, recommended a cream, and left. I went back for a follow-up appointment and there was some improvement, but he kept asking me to purchase more product. I did not end up doing so, but I do not trust this doctor or his recommendations.
Definitely a smart guy, answered all of my questions, treated me appropriately, I will be going back for follow up visits. I was a little put off by his bedside manner, just felt like he could have been more friendly, but he was calm and took the time to explain things to me. I also don't love that they still have paper charts...
James Hu came with one of the most impressive resumes I have seen in a doctor. His training was done at Ivy League schools and it really shows when you meet with him. He helped me with a skin concern and the visit was very quick. The wait was unfortunately about three times the actual time I spent with him.
It was great! He listened to me and knew that I had been through all the hoops with my condition.
I didn't have any serious medical conditions - only minor issues and questions. The doctor was very patient and answered every question I asked, providing explanations. I felt comfortable as a patient.
Be aware of the excessive charges from this clinic. No discussion was made regarding to the more expensive "treatments" and I was surprised when I got an expensive bill after the fact. They are not transparent about their pricing. I did not return after learning about the charges, because it is obvious that they only care about making as much money out of their patients as possible. They are extremely unethical and handle communications poorly (because they simply don't care!). I disputed the charges, and was threatened that my bill would be turn over to collection agencies. I am not the only patient having the same issue. I've read similar comments regarding their pricing on other sites as well. I do not recommend this doctor.
Dr. Hu has been amazing to me. I had a terrible skin problem and I had seen two other dermatologists. Dr Hu was the only one who gave me the best formula. Thanks to him, I no longer have redness, scaling and itching on my face. I'm in customer service and my appearance is very important. I highly recommend Dr. James Hu.
Dr. Hu was great. Straight to the point, and he even has a mini tardis in his office (it's pronounced like Dr. Who). He explained everything thoroughly to me and answered my questions about my treatment, and I feel confident in our treatment plan.
Dr Hu was pleasant and efficient. He took the time to diagnose and set up a plan. I would recommend him to everyone.
I thought that he was both efficient and gentle. I walked away from his office with more information, and having felt respected. I would definitely return if I needed to.
Finally my skin is back to normal. I Have been to a previous dermatologist who didn't know to stop my skin from being irritated and flaky. Dr. Hu r
Initial visit, more to come with follow ups.
Coming from NYC, I'm used to dermatologists having fancy offices and pushing more cosmetic treatments. Doctor Hu does not do any of that, but instead listens to you and makes recommendations on the best way to move forward. Though I have good insurance, I appreciate the fact that he made sure to offer options that were cheaper with the same benefit as more expensive routes. He's not bubbly and overly friendly, but I felt he answered my questions thoroughly. I will visit again.
Dr. Hu had an assistant with him during my visit (possibly an intern?) and they were both very professional. Thanks!
The doctor is obviously very knowledgeable which is a plus, however his personal skills are lacking a lot - and his patient interaction can use considerable work. I was scheduled for an annual skin checkup and was in and out of the office within 15 minutes - literally - in at 5:15, out at 5:30 with two prescriptions! Had a minor acne problem and without any blood tests or anything prescribed medication. Described that I wanted to see what could be done about reversing my premature hair loss and with no bloodwork at all prescribed medication for that as well - both within 15 minutes, with little explanation as to what each does. He seems confident it will work though and if it does, then awesome, but you need to make your customer feel safe/confident about what they will take as well. Also, he did not warn me of any side effects of the medication until i get to the pharmasist at a store i took them too and they warn me that it can decrease labido!!!!!! AT 21 IT'S KIND OF A BIG DEAL TO KNOW WHEN YOU'RE TAKING A PILL THAT WILL AFFECT SEX MAN! So yea - good doctor, but bad communication skills.
I am very disappointed with this doctor, if I could I would give zero star. First he made me wait for almost 40 minutes while he was in a phone call, second he did not even checked me , he looked at me for 5 seconds and called his friend who is a endocrinologist, then he told me to call his friend for an appointment, and he billed me like he did a whole examination, but all he gave me was a pierce of paper with a phone number. What a joke !!! I went to a second dermatologist who was able to check my skin carefully, ask for blood test and etc.. He gave me a real diagnostic and my problem was solved , I did not need any endocrinologist. He should know he didant do his job, so he should not bill me ! Why to charge a patient if you are unable to give her a diagnostic and a prescription for her issue? This is ridiculous! I will take him to BBB and I am not going to pay this bill! If I go to a place to request a service and they dont provide the service I need, ofcourse they would not charge me, so why with this doctor needs to be different ? Please skip him, and go to the next one on the list.
awesome sauce. nice doctor.
Dr Hu was personable, professional and approachable. I felt he really listened to my concerns and helped to ease my anxiety.
Care is excellent and worth the wait.
He looked at my problem more thoroughly than my previous dermatologists have. Everyone at the office was very nice.
Dr Hu is a nice person with a good approach.
Technically helpful but not even so much as a "hello" when entering an exam room. No "thank you" or "goodbye" either. Not friendly, little or no bedside manner.
Dr Hu far exceeded my expectations with his subject-matter knowledge and his recommendations. He was able to immediately diagnose the cause of my rash and prescribe a treatment. I'd highly recommend him.
Cold demeanor, uninterested in my concerns or questions, low perceived value.
Very impersonal, he asked me a lot of questions from a chart instead of conversing with me. It felt more like an interrogation than assistance. He's a very Doctor with a lot knowledge, I personally want a doctor that makes me feel comfortable.
Doctor was not easy to talk to. I had to ask him about side effects of medication. I had to ask him about the root cause. Very difficult to talk. I will never go to him again .
It was great! I booked an emergency appointment because of a rash on my leg, and he saw me immediately! He prescribed some anti-allergic pills and they are working very well! Great doctor, highly recommended!
I am BEYOND pleased with my visit to Dr. Hu's office. He had great availability and I was able to fill out all of my paperwork ahead of time which made everything so fast. His office staff is friendly and professional and the office is clearly well maintained - organized and clean. Dr. Hu is clearly very knowledgeable in his field and he didn't give me any run around. I was so happy that he took care of my mole removals on the first visit, (something my former dermatologist wouldn't do). I would describe his bedside manner as very 'scientific'. Anyone who has known a scientist will know what I mean. He's to the point, very calm and exceptionally smart. I recommend him wholeheartedly!
I would recommend Dr, Hu to a friend!
Went in for a standard dermatology exam to check for skin cancer. Doctor checked only my top half of my body, and didn't bother to check my legs.
Really great guy. Would listen to all the questions I had and explain his reasoning for this or that. The staff was super sweet and comfortable to talk to (beyond the typical hello/how are you).
Very pleasant demeanor, but dispenses with niceties and gets right to the business at hand. He is very knowledgeable and competent in his field. He diagnosed and/or treated several of the minor issues I came in with on the spot and was patient with my questions.
Dr. Hu was professional, knowledgeable and friendly. One of those Doctors who know their stuff. He quickly diagnosed my condition after examining it and provided additional info to help me to better understand the situation. I could tell he is very experienced in his field. I would definitely recommend Dr. Hu dermatology services. The lady at the front desk(Christine?) was also very nice. The office is also kids friendly. My overall experience was just positive.
I went and got a second opinion and overall was not impressed with his bedside manner.
Pleasant, he showed concern, he listened and was patient.
Not overly impressed but got okay treatment. Probably won't go back
He is great at explaining and has excellent bedside manner. I would recommend him to anyone in need of a dermatologist.
He automatically told me he didn't have treatment for me without even looking at my scars, they have false advertisements online, I will never recommend them to anyone and they over charge u just for a 30min visit.
Dr Hu is truly a great guy. He listened to me explain my situation, gave very in depth informative feedback and provided options. I have never been to a dermatologist before but he is definitely who I will go back to if I ever need anything.
I've been a patient for over 20 years. Dr. Hu has dealt with every issue I've had quickly and effectively while educating me to what the problem was and how he proposed treating it.
He knew what the problem was and had a fix for it.
Very intelligent and thorough. A true scientist and student of his trade. I wish more doctors were like him.
Treatment selected by doctor was not effective, unfortunately.
Very professional and knowledgeable. Friendly staff.
I had an excellent experience. Very thorough, listened very well, and provided some extremely good advice and solutions.
I was uncomfortable with the recommended treatment plan that Dr. Hu provided for me. It was my first time seeing him (and my first ever visit to a dermatologist about my acne), and he went straight to prescribing Accutane for me. I was concerned with the pledge you have to take to terminate a pregnancy if one should occur while you're on the medication -- if it's so harmful to a child in your body, do I want that stuff in my own body? I was surprised he didn't start with other, less-agressive options, first. I agreed to the treatment plan during the appointment -- and he seemed really excited when I did, to the point that I wondered if he gets a financial kick-back from the accutane company (that is purely conjecture on my part). I went home and read over the iPledge materials they send you (to terminate a pregnancy should one occur while on the medication), spoke to some medical professionals in my family, and ultimately decided to not proceed with accutane and did not return to Dr. Hu's office.
Not professional. His nurse also complained about him by using a cheap opening cup for urine test and just put it on the desk. Also price is far away expensive, since i see other doctor for the exactly same issue, i know the other average price range. No idea here is expensive! DO NOT RECOMMEND!
I think Dr. Hu is thorough and uses practical solutions to medical problems.
Got there early and Dr. Hu saw me immediately and gave good advice!
I have a follow up appointment in a week, but he took his time with me and prescribed medicine that I feel will do the trick. I went to a walk in clinic and asked for a prescription and the told me to just take benadryl.
Very knowledgable man, extremely intelligent in his field of practice and it shows. He cuts right to the reason for the visit and gets it done.
It took me about 1 hour and 10 minutes to wait, and get investigation done within 10 minutes, it's not a big illness though. The docotor is pretty good, might be a bad day that having a tough patient which took too long.
It was a little unnerving how short my time with doctor HU actually was. This could also be bc there just clearly was no reason for concern and upon quickly recognizing this, doctor Hu let me be on my way.
He was very quiet and diagnosed me quickly. I was in and out in less than half an hour.
Thought he was great and very professional. I would see him again.
Dr. Hu was able to offer me an explanation for my condition that was different than the other dermatologists. He explained it thoroughly and was very patient. I hope his diagnosis is correct and I am waiting for the result of the treatment.
Very thorough and discussed all alternative treatments as well as prevention and health education to learn more about my condition. highly recommend. Staff very nice as well!
Dr. Hu was very methodical in his evaluation of my condition and was very prompt in his diagnosis, which was correct, the first time!
He is very knowledgeable & gave a quick diagnosis & treatment options. He seemed a bit distant, but I dont expect much out of my doctors. I just want them to tell me what the issue is and tell me how to make it better, and that is exactly what Dr. Hu did.
He answered my questions and provided more feedback than I expected. He listened to me and provided (hopefully) good direction.
A decade of severe eczema that included an ER visit, four different dermatologists with differing treatments--Dr. Hu is the only derm who persevered and actually helped. I still suffer from outbreaks, but I feel able to manage my skin issues with Dr. Hu's expertise. Dr. Hu is thorough, knowledgeable, and his staff is awesome--highly recommend!
I appreciated Dr Hu's advice for taking preventative measures and his thoroughness.
Dr. Hu diagnosed me in minutes. He prescribed the proper pills, wrote out clear instructions on when to take them, and sent me on my way. He was kind, but didn't have very much to say. He is obviously very knowledgeable in his field, but I do think he could have taken a couple extra minutes to get to know me.
Awkward, insensitive, and dated approach.
The receptionist was very friendly and was taken to the room right away.
Calm, cool, and collected bedside manner. Answered all my questions very patiently and honestly. I would recommend him to anyone.
Very thorough and didn't rush me out. Took the time to find the right treatment for me. Would recommend to friends. Also office staff was really nice and helpful!
He was very knowledgeable, and even recommended literature if I was curious about the scientific research relating to my issues.
Very knowledgeable and pleasant.
Dr. Hu was a breath of fresh air. I made my appointment on the same day I saw him (p.s. I love ZocDoc) and he was very professional. He was extremely knowledgeable, answered all 10,000 of my questions, listened to my concerns and prescribed a treatment that I was comfortable with. I look forward to working with Dr. Hu in the future on my issue!
If you don't have an insurance , they charge little expensive .
Excellent doctor with great empathy and a patient-centered mindset.
Professional, to the point but relatable.
Dr. Hu took good care of me, made me feel comfortable, and spent plenty of time answering all of my questions. The 40 minute wait for my appointment was a bit bothersome, but I understand that this kind of backup occasionally happens. Otherwise my experience was good!
I found doctor pretty good and genuine, he seemed concern about my condition and helped by explaining it in good detail and by giving appropriate medicine. He also explained me all the side-effects of the medication is good detail. He seemed little confused with my questions but he took time to explain it correctly. One more thing I really liked is doctor James gave time to listen to all the concerns that I had without rushing into it.
If it's not broken, don't fix it. He was very professional and I like him a lot.
My treatment was quick and effective.
Dr. Hu is the best dermatologist I have ever been to. He is extremely knowledgable and listens to my concerns and questions.
Very professional and easy to talk with.
Very professional, nice guy, overall a good experience!
He seemed nice but rushed, I told him my issue and his first response was to get me on medication, there wasn't a lot of conversation about options, etc. Also the appointment cost more than I expected it to and the medication I did end up going on, I didn't really understand. I don't know, I guess I would have liked him taking more time to explain things.
He has a very calm manner and appears very knowleable. He performed my treatment the same day, and answered questions not originally planned for in my appointment. I'm usually very nervous with a new doctor, but he and his staff made me very comfortable.
I personally thought he was awful. He was very cold and judgmental. I went in to get shots for keloid scaring and he didn't say a word through the whole process of getting the shots.
Dr James Hu is a very smart and educated doctor i would highly recommend him
The best doctor I've ever seen. Dr Hu, went above and beyond in every aspect.
Everyone was very friendly and professional.
He was very nice. He sat down and addressed all my concerns.
Dr. Hu did not rush me through my appointment and he answered my questions thoroughly; he asked me questions to make sure he understood my issues. I liked his calm demeanor and felt his knowledge and expertise were very good.
A very knowledgeable and patient doctor. Answered all my questions and concerns. Plus, his staff assistant is friendly and very courteous.
Dr. Hu is very knowledgeable and the activity in the Office is very efficient both for standard treatments and small operations, etc. Highly recommend.
Seemed knowledgeable and was polite.
