Dr. James was an excellent dermatologist! Given his broad experience and expertise, he was able to quickly diagnose and help me understand the underlying cause for my skin issue. I felt at ease the whole time and he was helpful in answering my questions.

I was disappointed that at 9:30 when I arrived for my appointment, the office was dark and locked. The receptionist arrived at 9:40 (and offered her apologies), while the doctor didn't arrive until 9:50 (and did not apologize). I was finallyseen shortly after 10:00. He is clearly VERY knowledgeable about dermatology, but the lack of consideration for my time and lack of acknowledgement that anything was wrong definitely rubbed me the wrong way.

A very kind doctor. Fully listened to my issues, discussed alternatives for treatment, and offered helpful advice, all while being friendly and professional. At no point did I feel rushed nor that I was an annoyance to him. Also, he feltvery competent in his area with clear expertise, and up to date with the latest treatments without feeling like an ad piece for the pharmaceutical industry.

I went in to have what could have been a piece of glass or splinter removed from my finger. The doctor slowly scraped skin from my finger with a scalpel until he said "Uh oh, you're bleeding very briskly". He triedto stop the bleeding for maybe 3 minutes then said it was bleeding too much and to come back next week. He put a bandage on it and told me to leave. I refused to rebook and to find another doctor. When I reached the first floor I looked down and saw blood was dripping from my hand onto the floor and was all over my clothes. I went back up, quite angry, told the doctor he needs to help stop the bleeding. He numbed my entire hand, and cauterized it with an electric cauterizer. I can't imagine telling a patient bleeding badly to leave and come back next week. I felt unsafe, I did not trust him, seemed panicked when I started bleeding. I had to miss work since I couldn't work with a numbed hand. I saw another doctor that day who was appalled at what had been done. At the very least don't let him pick up anything sharp around you. This was the poorest experience I have had with any medical professional.

Dr. Hu made me feel unsafe and uncomfortable. One time I had a rash that was breaking out on my thighs and neck. I just showed him the rash on my neck since I was wearing a skirt and tights, andyou couldn't see the rash because it was on my upper thigh. He was sitting very close to me and asked me to show him the rash on my thigh. I waited for him to get up and leave the room, or give me a gown or something, so I could change, but he remained sitting close to me, looking directly at me. This made me uncomfortable because it was obvious by what I was wearing I wouldn't be able to show him the rash without pulling my tights off and exposing my entire bottom torso. I sat there awkwardly for a few seconds, feeling kinda nervous. I think he noticed this and eventually swung his chair around to face the wall (not leave). I was really uncomfortable but I pulled down my tights to have him examine the rash. A doctor shouldn't give you a "bad feeling" that makes you question your safety. All doctors should know to give their patients privacy when asking them to disrobe. I changed doctors immediately after this interaction. I know it's typical to disrobe at the dermatologist's office, but this wasn't typical. I've changed at doctor's offices enough times to know that this wasn't standard practice. Dr. Hu is a creep and his receptionist is apathetic to patients. I was a little nervous to come forward with this information, but I think it's important to spread information like this so that other people don't experience what I did.

I will never go back here. The first appointment he came to 45 minutes late. I believe he got back late from lunch and had the slot right after lunch double booked. The second appointment when I got there I foundout he was running 30 minutes late. So I left. What's the point of an appointment if he never keeps them?

Dr. Hu needs to change his business practices so patients can understand what they are paying for. Medical part of this visit went just about as well as a biopsy on the nose could. However, Dr. Hu gets 1 star becauseof he sent a bill with no description of the services rendered, just some esoteric procedure codes, requiring immediate payment. To me this is an unethical way to treat your patients. Requiring someone to immediately pay a bill without providing the ability to understand what they are paying for is just wrong. Next time I will use a different dermatologist

The doctor walked in while I was changing and didn't knock, so I was taken totally aback. At least I was done changing, but it was very unprofessional and he did not even apologize. He then looked at some of mydry spots that I was concerned about for less than 1 minute, recommended a cream, and left. I went back for a follow-up appointment and there was some improvement, but he kept asking me to purchase more product. I did not end up doing so, but I do not trust this doctor or his recommendations.

I was uncomfortable with the recommended treatment plan that Dr. Hu provided for me. It was my first time seeing him (and my first ever visit to a dermatologist about my acne), and he went straight to prescribing Accutane for me.I was concerned with the pledge you have to take to terminate a pregnancy if one should occur while you're on the medication -- if it's so harmful to a child in your body, do I want that stuff in my own body? I was surprised he didn't start with other, less-agressive options, first. I agreed to the treatment plan during the appointment -- and he seemed really excited when I did, to the point that I wondered if he gets a financial kick-back from the accutane company (that is purely conjecture on my part). I went home and read over the iPledge materials they send you (to terminate a pregnancy should one occur while on the medication), spoke to some medical professionals in my family, and ultimately decided to not proceed with accutane and did not return to Dr. Hu's office.

The most condescending bedside manner of any doctor I've ever seen. Wouldn't listen to what I had used in the past, even though it worked and was gentler on my skin than the expensive product he prescribed. After trying to getthe prescription, I had to call back and speak with him because it was too expensive and insurance wouldn't cover it. He told me that having health insurance from the exchange was basically like not have insurance at all, which I found incredibly insulting. My job doesn't offer insurance, so what else am I supposed to do?

Dr. Hu made me feel very uncomfortable. He was very unclear about the things he was telling me, and was less than professional, he gave off an awkward vibe and the whole consultation was uncomfortable. Wouldn't recommend in the slightest. Theproduct he recommended to clear up my skin he simply scribbled eligibily on a crumpled post it note that I could hardly read.

I got to my appointment on time, took 5min to fill out paperwork, and then waited for 50min before I was even shown into a room. This was after someone else showed up after me and was seen by the doctor.I then waited for another 15min before seeing the doctor. I almost walked out because I had purposely scheduled the appointment during my lunch break. When I finally did see the doctor (and met him for the first time) he was pretty to the point and didn't really ask me a lot of questions about my condition (acne). He then prescribed a treatment that to meet seemed a bit excessive and did not take the time to fully explain it. I asked a lot of questions that I felt he should have talked over with me and I shouldn't have had to prod him for. When I took the time to read all of the paperwork he had me fill out and ask questions about the various side effects, he said most of it wasn't true and most people didn't actually read the forms and just filled them out. Who doesn't read a prescription form that has a ton of really serious side effects and health implications? I had read a lot of positive reviews for him and it's likely that his prescription will help, but I definitely did not feel like he did due diligence to fully explain various options and give me all the necessary information. My long wait experience might have colored my appointment, but I left with a felling of disappointment, not with a feeling of yes, this solution is great for me. Hope that helps.

Be aware of the excessive charges from this clinic. No discussion was made regarding to the more expensive "treatments" and I was surprised when I got an expensive bill after the fact. They are not transparent about their pricing. I didnot return after learning about the charges, because it is obvious that they only care about making as much money out of their patients as possible. They are extremely unethical and handle communications poorly (because they simply don't care!). I disputed the charges, and was threatened that my bill would be turn over to collection agencies. I am not the only patient having the same issue. I've read similar comments regarding their pricing on other sites as well. I do not recommend this doctor.
