Dr. Long is an excellent physician. I would like to continue seeing him. That said, I am extremely disappointed in the scheduling process. Each time I schedule through ZocDoc, a receptionist calls to reschedule my appointment. It's usually just a few hours later in the day, but this time was a whole week after the available dates listed on ZocDoc (available time said 8/8/14 at noon; offered to reschedule for 8/15/14). This causes a problem because I'd wanted to see Dr. Long before I go on a two-week vacation. ZocDoc provides a great service, but offices that don't list accurate appointment times should not be part of the site. Please consider listing accurate appointment times or remove Dr. Long from ZocDoc.

The staff and Dr. Long were both friendly and caring. I would highly recommend Dr. Long to anyone looking for a new Dr.
The appointment went well, the only issue I had problem with was poor communication on reciving result of lab test.
Very personable, easy-going and professional. I've been with many different doctors, but he's one of the best!

It was wonderful to have the doctor spend the time with me and not rush out to the next patient.
Verified patient
Very professional but also very nice and comfortable to talk with. Will definitely visit again.
Dr. Long is great, but the wait was horrible and the Nurse Practitioner was rude.
Good visit! I would recommend others to this practice. Very friendly staff.

Terrific doctor, would recommend him to anyone.

Everybody from the front desk staff and the nurses to Dr. Long himself were polite and professional and seemed to really care.

I was disappointed that my 300 appointment was cancelled. They call the house and left a message to call them. The only problem was I was out of town until 100 Tuesday and didn't get my messages . therefore I went to the 300 and it was cancelled Did get another appointment the next morning. Other than that thought he was good Do have another appointment.
Very personable and thorough provider. Spent a lot of time talking about my overall health maintenance. It probably helps that Dr. Long and I are roughly the same age because he's able to relate to some of the emerging health issues I may experience through the aging process. The office staff seemed professional and generally competent.

I ahve seen him before. Excellent Doctor
The doctor is great but the nurse is rude and unorganized. She made me wait for 35 minutes in a closed door office. Then, when I came back from the bathroom, I did not close the door of the waiting office. I continued to wait for another 15 minutes. She came and blamed me for leaving the door opened which was a sign of an empty room so the doctor didn't come. How the hell could I know that? Who is running the office anyways, me or her?

The first doctor who listened to my symptoms, ventured a guess about the problem, and referred me to a specialist. I have shared these symptoms with a few other doctors, but they did not offer any insight or further testing. I was really impressed with him.
I switched to Dr. Long when I realized that my family medicine doc was in over her head with me. (I'm a complicated case; nothing terribly serious, but a lot of maladies for which I take a lot of meds, and I found at least two errors in her judgment,) Dr. Long has proved the perfect solution - both extremely knowledgeable and aware of his own limitations. He's referred me to a string of top-notch specialists, and is clearly taking the time to sort through mountains of information to arrive at the best treatment plan for my wellness. He's also very personable. The same holds true of Dr. Long's medical and office support team -- accessible, responsive, efficient, and pleasant. I can't imagine him taking new patients for much longer, so I'd advise getting in with him ASAP.

Very good first visit.
Dr. Long is very professional, knowledgable and thorough. This was my first visit with him and he took the time to fully understand my medical situation, conduct a very thorough examination and make excellent recommendations for medications. He is friendly and developed a very good relationship with me immediately. His staff is also excellent, friendly and prompt.
Knowledgeable, good listener, caring manner,
Best initial consult ever
Listened well to my symptoms. Efficient staff that followed up with lab and other results quickly. Quickly made referral appts. Very personable.
My father was a good father. He was also my doctor .He was very smart, Cornell University and Medical School. He had his own practice and was Chief of Staff and Director of Medicine at Arlington Hospital.. He understood, had experience and patience. I'd often say after he passed, I lost my father and my doctor. However, I am grateful and fortunate that I finally found someone that's a Doctor's Doctor- James Long M.D. F.A.C.P. , in Fairfax,Va . R.Schwartz
Smart and down to earth. There was no "I'm the doctor, you're the patient" air. Even though the wait was a bit long, the staff was a really really pleasant bunch to interact with, especially Shantae. I know I'm spelling that wrong, but she's the lady who drew my blood and she was very sweet. I love her music.

It was very nice and good ,he is very good with my son,who has special needs, I'm very blessed to have DR. LONG care for my son in a medical way.
Verified patient
Dr. Long is very thorough, knowledgeable, and friendly. The staff was friendly and effecient, and the office was clean and attractive.

Wait time was just fine. Very friendly and engaging. Maintained eye contact and really listened to the issue. Plan to make him my new primary doctor. The support staff are also nice and professional.
Verified patient
Dr. Long is smart, insightful, and patient. Really appreciate his approach to prevention and his willingness to consider other options before just going straight to medication.

ZocDocs did NOT connect my appointment to the Doctor's actual office, so I was not expected when I arrived at the alloted time (as confirmed by ZocDocz). The schedule was full, BUT Dr. Long graciuosly made time to meet with me, take my medical history, and apologize for the mixup. Another appointment was scheduled for my full visit, and I left with a highly positive impression.
I have never...NEVER before been taken back for my appointment early with other offices. I wasn't even finished filling out the first page of my paperwork before the sweet, lovely Trudy called me back. I didn't even wait 5 minutes for Dr. Long after Trudy asked her the preliminary questions. FABULOUS experience!!! The office was clean, as were the exam rooms. I HIGHLY recommend this office. The reception personnel were very friendly and professional as well. Thank you all!

I think he saved my life!!
He is an attentive doctor. Really listening to what you say. Does not forget to smile. The welcoming nurse was kind and comforting. However, some of the front desk employees have nasty attitudes and it just makes me think not to go back to their office. Dr. Long, if you ever read this, please tell the people you're working with to be compassionate. Because everybody who comes to visit your office is suffering from some kind of illness. And that DMV attitude of some of the staff wouldn't help those sick people at all. And you would lose patients. You should find a way to let patients reach you when they need to ask a question whose answer would only take a few seconds to give.
Process was timely, reception and nurses were lovely. Dr. Long spent more time listening to me than any doctor I have ever seen. He was extremely empathetic and professional and not judgemental about anything I wanted to investigate, or my weight problem. I would recommend him highly.
It is very refreshing to be able to see your medical provider, and truly and Doctor/Patient dialogue...can't remember the last time, I have met such a truly informed, caring (took time to listen) and treated the patient as an individual..what a breath of fresh air!
