I completed my orthopedic surgery training in New York at St. Luke’s\Roosevelt Hospital Center, a teaching hospital affiliated with Columbia University. I have been in practice in Manchester since 1991. I am currently on the active staff of ECHN, Manchester Memorial Hospital, The Connecticut Joint Replacement Institute(CJRI) at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center and Hartford Hospital. I am a board certified and, in 2014, was recertified in adult reconstructive orthopedic surgery. From 2007 to 2013, I was listed in Connecticut Magazines Top Docs issue as one of Connecticut’s best orthopedic surgeons for shoulders and knees. In fact, I was the only ECHN orthopedic surgeon to receive this recognition.
In 24 years, I have treated many patients and performed thousands of surgeries and I bring that vast experience and skill to each and every patient evaluation and surgical procedure. My area of special interest includes traumatic and degenerative conditions of the shoulder and knee. I perform arthroscopic shoulder and knee surgery as well as shoulder and knee replacements.

I have seen Dr. Mazzara for previous surgeries. He is a gifted surgeon with a no nonsense but reassuring manner.
His staff is always top notch. They are friendly and knowledgeable and competent.
I wasn’t kept waiting for more than 5 minutes which is basically unheard of lately.
I’m not looking forward to my upcoming surgery but I’m thankful that Dr. Mazzara will be doing it.

From the very moment I contacted Dr. Mazzara and his staff after suffering a severe shoulder fracture, I could not have been treated with more kindness, compassion and respect. Dr. Mazzara saw me the same day, stressing the importance of coming to his office after being treated in the Emergency Room of the local hospital. He provided a full examination and thoroughly explained my options, along with the risks and benefits of each, to both my husband and to me in a way we could both understand, as he guided us through the decision making process. Dr. Mazzara expressed sincere and genuine concern for my wellbeing, comfort and safety. He rearranged his surgical schedule to be able to perform comprehensive surgery on me in less than 48 hours. My surgical experience was nothing short of outstanding. I could not have felt more safe or secure, knowing that I was receiving care from such a highly-regarded and respected expert in shoulder surgery. All of my office visits since surgery have been just as positive as my first. I am seen on-time, the staff is caring and efficient and Dr. Mazzara takes all the time I need to answer my questions and discuss my progress. My family and I are amazed by how well I am doing after four short months of rehab. Working with his Physical Therapy team, I have regained most all functions and range of motion and have resumed all of the activities that I was able to do before the accident, including working full time, running up to 5 miles four times a week, swimming and golfing. I will never be able to thank Dr. Mazzara and his team enough for all they have done for me.

Everything about the process and the surgery were excellent. I followed Dr. Mazzara's instructions on recovery to letter and my recovery was perfect and quick. I would recommend, and have, Dr. Mazzara to anyone going through this surgery.
