About Dr. James Walsh

James Walsh, DO, is a fellowship-trained, board-certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in all knee, shoulder, and sports medicine conditions. Dr. Walsh previously served as a staff orthopedic surgeon in the United States Air Force (USAF) at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, Virginia. During his time in the USAF, he served six months as a wartime deployed orthopedic surgeon in Operation Enduring Freedom and was the team lead for the Mobile Field Surgical Team. Dr. Walsh treats all orthopedic sports injuries and specializes in the latest arthroscopic and reconstructive shoulder and knee surgery. He has a particular interest in cutting-edge treatments for ACL injuries, including a six-strand graft preparation. Dr. Walsh works with patients to restore mobility and help athletes get back to the game. He works closely with the physical therapists on-site to tailor a specific treatment plan based on the patient’s situation. As a former athlete, Dr. Walsh understands the complexities of sports injuries and has helped athletes of all varying competitive levels, including professional, college, and high school athletes. He is a current co-team physician Wesleyan University and currently serves as a co-team physician for the Hartford Wolf Pack. Dr. Walsh earned his medical degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his orthopedic residency at the Cleveland Clinic. He completed a fellowship at the Cincinnati Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center.
