Dr. McElligott treats patients starting from 13 years old.
Dr. McElligott completed his Bachelor of Art in English with a minor in Psychology from Washington College, his Master of Science in Clinical and Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Trauma Studies from Chestnut Hill College, and his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with concentrations in Forensic Psychology and Child and Family Psychology. He completed his predoctoral internship at the Wilmington VAMC with rotations in Mental Health, Crisis/Intake, Telemental Health, Psychological/Neuropsychological Testing, and the Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program. He subsequently completed his postdoctoral fellowship at the VA Maine Healthcare System with specializations in PTSD/Trauma, LGBTQA Veterans, and Geropsychology.
While his recent clinical work has focused on the veteran population, he has a strong background in working with a wide variety of clients of different ages and a range of presenting concerns in multiple settings. He has provided individual therapy in a community mental health clinic and college counseling center, provided a variety of clinical services on several inpatient units, worked in outpatient and group home settings with children and adolescents who have experienced childhood sexual abuse, and offered individual and group therapy to clients in a residential treatment center for traumatic brain injury.
