Office is very friendly and relaxed. Everyone seems very knowledgeable and in sync with what is going on……. Would highly recommend this office.. I was very comfortable here. Doctors were very thorough.!

I made the appointment online on Sunday and was very tired and nervous about seeing the Doctor. I was sent an email asking me to complete the forms. I do not like sending documents online so I came to the office early to complete the forms. My appointment could not be found. I did receive a phone message but I had not reviewed them.
I was early for my appointment and arrived at 1:45 my appointment was for 2:30. I was one of the last to be seen at 5:30!
The doctor was very nice although I never heard what the results of my eye tests were before I saw him.
Going to have my eyes checked is always very stressful for me.

Dr. Powers is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist specializing in the treatment of retinal diseases, including diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, retinal tears and detachments, floaters, medical and surgical retinal disease, and laser surgery.
Dr. Powers graduated cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry / Biophysics. He received his medical degree, with honors, from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency in Ophthalmology at Albany Medical Center. He then completed his post graduate fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery at the nationally respected University of South Florida Eye Institute. He has been awarded several academic scholarships from the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association and is a member of Psi Sigma Alpha Honor Society.
Dr. Powers has worked with several well known and respected ophthalmologists and is affiliated with numerous hospitals and surgery centers, including: Helen Ellis Memorial, James A. Haley Veterans, Tampa General, St. Anthony's, as well as Bayfront, Largo and Suncoast Hospitals. In addition, he regularly attends medical conferences and is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Osteopathic Association, the American Medical Association, the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association, and is a Board Member and Governor or the Pinellas County Osteopathic Medical Association. His research includes, co-investigator of the SOCA study (2001) and the Genentech FVF2128 study (2001). He has also authored numerous publications including Glaucoma Associations with Intraocular Tumors (2000) and Aphakic/Pseudophakic Glaucoma (2000).

I had an unexpected issue with my eye and a church member highly recommended Dr Powers. I contacted the office and filled out the on line questionnaire, while I was doing the questionnaire the office called me and booked an appointment for me immediately. The intake process was easy and I was seen by very professional and courteous staff. The doctor was personable and reassured me my condition was manageable and not to worry. I would highly recommend this medical facility .

The office is in a large office bldg @ Bayfront Plaza connected to the West Parking garage. You can use the Valet service or park yourself & walk across the 2nd floor sky bridge to bldg 603. Just using GPS doesn't work in that snarl of streets.

I was 30 min. late due to a dead battery but they told me to come anyway. I appreciated that. Overall, the staff was very professional and efficient. I spoke to one young girl privately about her yawning and obvious lack of presence and she perked up. Dr. Powers told me I had scar tissue from cataract surgery with another physician several years ago. Dr. Powers is very impressive and runs a tight ship. He removed the scar tissue in his office the same day!!! I was amazed by his knowledge and expertise and it was overall an excellent experience. As I write this several days later. I can see more clearly and am very grateful. ??
