Dr. James (Trey) Duckett specializes in sports medicine, arthroscopy, and reconstruction, including open and arthroscopic treatment of shoulder, knee, hip, and elbow disorders. In addition to sub specialized training in sports medicine, Dr. Duckett received focused training in arthroscopic and mini-open surgery for non-arthritic hip disorders.
Dr. Duckett graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of South Carolina Honors College, earning a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. He received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Florida. He then completed a one year sports medicine fellowship at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama under the direction of Dr. James Andrews.
Dr. Duckett is a native of Charleston, South Carolina. His wife is an Atlanta native and they have two sons. In his free time, Dr. Duckett enjoys spending time with family, playing golf, and watching Gamecock football.

Dr. Duckett was very attentive, knowledgeable, caring and did not rush through my visit. He performed surgery on my knee in February and I have been seeing him for approximately 7 months. I would highly recommend him. His office workers are very friendly and efficient. Also, the wait time is usually under 10 minutes...if not sooner. Carole J.

I was being seen in the ER regarding a different health matter, when the ER nurse (NOT a physician) phoned your office. Disregarding any HIPPA requirements, Dr Seidman (Not Dr. Duckett, who was my doctor) pulled my file and proceeded to give this nurse my personal information. He apparently had a problem with the medication Dr. Duckett had prescribed for me, as did this ER nurse. In the meantime, I insisted on seeing a REAL physician in the ER and told him the situation, who has since assured me has been rectified. I phone Dr. Duckett's assistant a few days later (Ucilla), she stated he would no longer prescribe any medication and would not speak to me on the phone. No worries. I have filed complaints with the proper authorities and my police dept who sends an awful of worker's comp claims to your office. I have no respect for doctors who do not trust in their own treatment. There is no need to put my name on this for I feel certain y'all know who I am. Thank you. I am now seeing another physician regarding my arm.

I'm satisfied with the attention given to my partially torn meniscus by Dr. Duckett. The post surgery rehab has just started, and although I'm having some discomfort the healing process seems to be progressing satisfactorily.

I have had close to 10 visits with Dr. Duckett. Each appointment I was seen within 2-3 minutes of my appointment time, if not as soon as I walked in 5 minutes early. I have always been seen promptly, professionally, and I received the time for Q&A I expect from a medical professional. I consider myself a relatively harsh critic of the medical profession and I have been extremely impressed and pleased with every single dealing with Dr. Duckett and his staff. Visits are on time, informative and to the point, and brief. I'd recommend him to anyone, especially those looking for an honest "younger" approach. My time with him is done but should I break another limb, I'm going straight back to Dr. Duckett.
