Dr. Jaron Andersen is a welcome addition to the GAMC staff, joining us in September 2011. He is a new associate of Dr. Michael S. Cann of Flintridge Orthopedics, specializing in general orthopedic surgery, with subspecialty interests in shoulder, elbow and sports medicine surgery.
Dr. Jaron Andersen was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah where he completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Utah. During that time, he was “California dreaming,” and welcomed the opportunity to attend Keck School of Medicine at USC. He then remained at USC to complete his five-year orthopedic surgery residency.
To fulfill his continued interest in shoulder and elbow surgery, he then completed a one-year fellowship in Tampa, FL under the direction of well-known shoulder surgeon Dr. Mark Frankle where he performed 6oo shoulder surgeries. Dr. Jaron Andersen is an expert in the techniques of reverse shoulder replacement and complex shoulder reconstruction surgery. He now has several publications under way on various aspects of shoulder surgery.
Jaron Andersen lives in Glendale with his wife, Kallista, whom he met while in residency. In his free time, he enjoys general fitness, golf, and tennis. He plans on obtaining his private pilot’s license in the near future.

Dr. Andersen was down-to-earth and straight-forward, unlike most doctors. He laid out all the available options of treatment of my injury, and totally respected my decision. He was genuinely attentive to my questions and opinions, and thoroughly responded as professional as one can be.
He even replied to my question in email right away at 10:30 pm on a Sunday night!
I couldn't be happier with the result of my surgery.

I came to see Dr. Anderson because he had time in his schedule the next day. My first question was, "Why does he have so much availability?" After my visit I can tell you that there is no reason for his available schedule except that he is a young doctor looking to build his practice.
Dr. Anderson is slightly awkward, like most non-primary care docs, but he is tall and handsome, and quite a calming presence. He is very attentive as well as contemplative. I also appreciated his very conservative treatment plan that did not include expensive MRIs.
Best of all, I am comfortable with the watch and wait approach because Dr. Anderson is rather easy to get in to see, so I am not left worrying that if this injury does not get better that I will have to wait weeks to get in.
