I really am impressed with the excellent Dr Kaur who took her time to explain why my prior meds weren't working, and the care she gave prescribing proper treatment for chronic asthma. She was highly professional and empathetic.
However the office she works at, the Summit Group, is busy and impersonal albeit efficient. I'm a visitor from Asia and was taken aback how curt the staff are - not impolite, but everyone seemed rushed.
Not one of the 4 staff at initial receptionist desk will look at you, you have to write your name down and wait to be called. Then a secondary intake desk goes through your paperwork. I felt like I was applying for car registration with the brusque (again I stress not impolite just robotic because overworked) staff. The place does a lot of bloodwork, and also runs the basement clinics so its like a factory.
After the initial unpleasant experience in the waiting room was over, the nurse who checked my vitals and the doctor were caring and excellent.
I just think the medical group is a moneymaking machine.
I was on time but after writing my name and waiting to be called, 5 minutes late as the office unit was not listed on zocdoc. When I called, wandering lost in the basement maze, the receptionist mistakenly told me the Dr was on leave which implies they are too large to even know who's working.
