The assistant who examined me before I saw Dr. Skalet was not very friendly, but Dr. Skalet was very nice
More than 1 year agoCasey S.Verified patient
My only compaint was that when I arrived they said I was actually scheduled at the Milwaukie location with a different doctor. I showed them the confirmation text I had received early from Zoc Doc that clearly showed I was scheduled at the Oregon City office with Dr. Skalet. They were able to see me within a reasonable amount of time and said they would inquire into why that scheduling mishap occurred.

More about Dr. Jason Skalet, MD
After residency, Dr. Skalet pursued this interest by completing a fellowship in Cornea, Uveitis and Refractive Surgery at the Proctor Foundation/University of California San Francisco. There, Dr. Skalet studied the latest corneal surgery techniques and the newest developments in the diagnosis and management of inflammatory conditions of the eyes. Prior to joining the EyeHealth Northwest team, Dr. Skalet spent four years as the sole referral cornea and uveitis specialist for East Bay Kaiser Permanente, in Oakland, California, servicing a population of approximately 300,000 patients. In this role, Dr. Skalet enjoyed seeing the most challenging medical and surgical cases in his areas of expertise. Because of his skill in handling complicated cases, he served as a referral specialist for other corneal specialists within the Northern California Kaiser system and as a surgical mentor for the UCSF cornea fellowship program, where he had an appointment as Adjunct Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology.
At EyeHealth Northwest, Dr. Skalet enjoys providing the full gamut of routine eye care, including diabetic exams, cataract checks and glaucoma care as well as taking care of both adult and pediatric patients with complex corneal, anterior segment disease and uveitis. Dr. Skalet is adept at the surgical and medical management of all corneal and external eye diseases, including lamellar keratoplasty, complex cataract surgery and refractive surgery. He is also one of a few fellowship-trained specialists in ocular inflammatory diseases in Oregon and southwest Washington. These diseases include scleritis, iritis, pars planitis and posterior uveitis—all conditions commonly associated with rheumatologic disorders and systemic infections. Dr Skalet takes great pride in being part of the medical treatment team for patients with ocular complications from these systemic diseases.

My questions were answered and his assistant, Jilliane, was great.
Also got information that was helpful in addition to answering my questions. Receptionist was very nice as well.

The doctor was wonderful. The tech who saw me before him however, was not. This visit I had a hard time with the numbing drops and couldn't manage to keep my eye open without flinching. The tech forcibly held my eye open and was visibly irritated with me. Jut because she does this to multiple people a day doesn't mean it's easy for the patient. There is not reason to get angry with me, because the body's natural reaction when something is going to poke you in the eye is to pull back or blink. I would have been great if she had been nicer or more gentle.

I have seen Dr. Skalet before, and he is very kind and very professional. I was having a lot of difficulties with my eyes, and instead of just telling me what was wrong, he gave me a lot of options on how to take care of the issues I was having. I appreciated that very much.

I appreciated his honesty. He told me to continue with over-the-counter eyeglasses for reading. A year ago I went to a different clinic & the provider there told me I needed bifocals or progressives & did a hard sell trying to get me to purchase $600 glasses. It's nice to know there are still honest & trustworthy providers. Dr. Skalet also saw me for an eye condition recently within 2 days, very efficient office.

I really like him, he is friendly, professional, very efficient and fun. My dad went to see him the day before I did and he was also very impressed with him, said he had a better eye exam than from his previous doctor. That is good to hear!
