For years I've had pain in my foot below my ankle. I saw a Podiatrist and he told me the pain was probably coming from my back. I took this info to my former PM and he told me there was no way the pain could be coming from the herniated disk in my lower back. He suggested acupuncture so I paid for two procedure out of pocket with no luck. My foot was getting worse so I saw a orthopedics surgeon and he ordered a MRI of the foot. he also did not feel the pain was from the herniated disk. MRI came back with multiple tendon tears in the foot. he sent me to PT and said if that did not work they could do surgery and repair the tendon. PT did not work and my foot was not getting any better. I then had a NCT done to check for nerve damage. The neurologist recommended a total nerve block which kinda scared me. So after years of bouncing back and fourth I found Dr Bender. I described everything to Dr Bender and brought my MRI Results. He suggested a ESI around the S1 disk instead of a total nerve block, I had the ESI last week and now my foot feels a lot better now and only hurts when I'm up and around for a while. Hopefully after the next ESI I will be pain free. So after years of pain, frustation and a whole lot of money I'm finally getting some relief. Also, Dr Bender was my first PM when he was at a ortopedics clinic in Cumming ga. He found the herniated disk and did some ESI's for the low back pain and I was pain free for over a year. When the pain came back I called for a appnt and was told he was no longer there. I was then referred to a PM that did some kind of shots, not under the xray, basically he was playing pin the tail on the donkey. I ran from him and found another PM that I thought was great as well but he missed the boat all together with the foot pain. Dr Bender is very knowledgeable and was really confident that the ESI would work and it has provided a lot of relief so far.
Very knowledgeable and caring doctor. He also showed genuine concern and enthusiasm about my treatment options. By far the best physiatrist I have ever seen
