Dr. Hoelscher was raised in a humble farming community in the Midwest and attended the University of Nebraska - Lincoln for his undergraduate studies in biochemisty. To expand his
diversity and communication capacity, he undertook an international study at the Instituton Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) in Monterrey, Mexico where he
became proficient in the Spanish language. After receiving his doctorate from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1999 he completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Immediately following Dr. Hoelscher chose to open his private medical practice in Internal Medicine at the downtown Nix Hospital in the fall of 2002 until his most recent relocation to the Alamo Heights area. In this central location he hopes to be even more available to patients across the San Antonio metro. His focus remains on the comprehensive care of his patients in his clinic and in the acute hospital, with a strong emphasis on preventative care. His strong relations and respect among physicians throughout the city facilitate his care coordination. He and his wife Renee remain
