Dr. Stein is great. I didn't give 5 stars simply bc at moments he can kind of brush you off during the appt. Not in a rude way but more of a 'Ive been doing this longer than you've been alive I know what Im doing but I still care about you as a patient" type of way. lol. If he weren't so great I would have given the office 2 stars bc my first impression of the ladies in his reception area is an F. Very rude. Condescending. Negative energy. The ethnic young woman that works is very sweet and the best one there. The older ladies need to retire and Dr. Stein should consider bringing in some more vibrant welcoming energy. If I wasn't so desperate to get a diagnosis I would have left the first time I walked in bc they were so miserable.

Gentlemanly demeanor and very thorough. Goes out of his way to explain prescription costs and the pros and cons of using brand vs generic.
His staff is every kind and accommodating, a rarity in the medical profession.
Due to a scheduling confusion, I was late almost an hour for my appointment. They were understanding and I was still able to see the doctor. How cool is that?

As a dedicated servant of Greater Los Angeles, Dr. Jay Stein is known as an attentive and friendly urologist. He has over 30 years of practice experience, and during that time has developed a rare expertise in vasectomy reversals to restore male fertility. Taking patient healing and recovery very seriously, Dr. Stein utilizes exclusively modern technology and equipment at his practice for diagnosis and treatment.
Dr. Stein pursued his love of medicine formally with an MD at the University of South Carolina, and came to the University of Southern California for his internship to learn more about the discipline. It became clear to him early on that urology was the perfect match for his skill set, and so he completed a residency in urology at the University of California, Irvine. Taking his training even further, Dr. Stein completed a fellowship in pediatric urology at the Hospital for Sick Children.
These days, Dr. Stein loves to practice photography in his spare time. He also loves to go fishing, and learning about other cultures. Dr. Stein travels to new places as often as he can.

Dr. Stein....where to begin? The clean, friendly office? The incredibly cool and helpful nurses? Or the professionalism, experience, and follow up from Dr. Stein?
Right from the beginning, I knew I was booking an appointment for something most males would view as...embarrassing. But, I needed answers and I would only settle for the best. The front desk receptionist was friendly and got me into the system in less than 5 minutes. From there I was brought directly to Dr. Stein’s office where we talked through my situation in a very comfortable manner. The most impressive part was during the physical examination when Dr. Stein noticed something was off and proceeded to draw some blood samples. The moment was swift, all action, with a detailed explanation of what he was pulling the samples for.
All while that happened the nurses got me paired with a stimulant alternative Dr. Stein recommended. Exactly one week later I received a follow up for the test results from Dr. Stein himself. I cannot recommend Dr. Jay Stein and his office enough!

My experience with Dr. Jay Stein was fantastic! Nowadays, it feels like doctors do not take the sufficient time to understand what your're exactly feeling; not Dr. Stein ladies and gentlemen. This doctor and his amazing staff are the truth!! Pardon my informal writing style.
I visited Dr. Stein twice in a 3 day period and I left both times with a contagious smile.That is almost an oxymoron nowadays in terms of leaving the doctor's office with any facial expression resembling a smile. Dr. Stein was extremely professional, insightful, thorough, and most importantly he exudes patience and understanding. His assistant/nurse Joanne is perhaps one of the most personable people I have come across this year so far. I tip my hat to her in her ability to showcase empathy and support after meeting someone just a few moments ago.
As you may detect from reading this review, I would recommend Dr. Stein without any hesitation. The only reason I gave him and his staff 5 stars is because Zocdoc does not allow me to score said practice with 20 stars! If you need to see a Urologist, make sure you point your mouse cursor to Dr. Stein and schedule that appointment. I expect many Thank You notes later ;).

Office was very hostile.
Doctor shamed me for an irrelevant issue––told me I'm on more meds than anyone he's seen my age. He doesn't know my background in depression, anxiety, & addiction & how far I've come from this. I repeatedly told him to stop commenting on it until he finally stopped & saved himself under the guise of 'watching out for my health' when in reality he just seemed to have preconceived notions that he is not certified to speak about & shouldn't have at all. That is for a psychiatrist to say. He practically insulted my psychiatrist because I take meds to cure my mental health issues. I shouldn't have even mentioned what meds I take in retrospect. Really hurt me emotionally for the rest of the day. Didn't expect that from a urology appt.
Besides that, he is solving my urology issue––which is all he should have commented on. He was quick & intelligent in figuring out my urology plan. The front desk was very hostile too––except for one kind lady. Wouldn't recommend coming here, but I already signed up, & scheduling these appts is cumbersome to begin with. They're probably good at what they do, urology wise, but they are not too friendly or welcoming. I'm stuck here, & that's fine. I'll just ignore the office's bedside manner & how the doctor speaks to me.

Dr. Stein was wonderful. I had made another appointment with a urologist through this app, only to show up and be told that the doctor was not even there that day and " those appointments aren't accurate" so I was quite nervous and hopeful that this one would ho well. Dr. Stein met with me in his office before doing any exam and did a thorough patient history. I have been to 2 previous urologists and NEITHER took the time to do this! He also scheduled tests that I have been asking for that my previous urologists had all promised would happen " sometime down the road ". I can't tell you how happy I am with Dr. Stein, I feel I am in good hands FINALLY and I cannot recommend him enough to other patients.
