I have had pain in my left shoulder for a month now. I tried hot packs and ice packs and got some relief but the pain did not go away fully. I kind of knew it wasn’t a major problem but it was kind of annoying since I couldn’t Do any kind of lifting with my left hand. I did I decided to see a doctor and found Dr Berg through Zocdoc. The doctor and the staff were very nice. They took x-rays of my shoulder and examined it by moving the hand in different directions. The doctor explained From the x-rays that my shoulder is perfectly fine. It’s just that the tissue around the shoulder is inflamed. The doctor explained me various options I have and and suggested me to go with the medication to cure the inflammation. I’m very happy with the way the visit went.

My practice is focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of sports-related injuries. As a sports medicine physician, I believe in a patient-centric approach, fitting the treatment to my patient, not my patient to the treatment.I have been practicing Orthopedic Surgery since 1998 and I am Board Certified by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. I earned my medical degree from The Boston University School of Medicine and completed my Orthopaedic surgical residency at The Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Having been active my entire life, including playing collegiate football for Boston University, I had a particular interest in pursuing further training in sports medicine. As a result, following my orthopaedic training, I completed a year-long fellowship program, subspecializing in orthopaedic sports medicine and arthroscopy at the Nicholas Institute of Sports Medicine and Athletic Trauma (NISMAT) in New York.
I was one of the first in the country and among only a handful in the tri-state area to earn a Subspecialty Certification in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. I have been the team doctor for a number of sports teams, including the Washington Redskins. I have served on several commitees for the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. Additionally, I was a reviewer for Sports Health: A Multi-Disciplinary Approach and I am presently a preceptor for the VCU-FFP Sports Medicine Fellowship. In addition, I have repeatedly been voted "Top Doctor" and "SuperDoc" for Sports Medicine in Northern Virginia.

Dr. Berg was the best doctor Ive seen for an ongoing problem with my shoulders. He took the time to explain my condition of frozen shoulder; causes for this condition and how long i can expect it to last and how to assist myself in resolving it. He gave me clear instructions and options. I previously saw multiple orthopedics for this condition and was never given any real clear information or advice. I would 100% recommend Dr. Berg, to friends family anyone looking for an orthopedic. He was very interested in listening to me and allowing me the time to explain my debilitations and limitations from this condition.

Very straight forward and knowledgeable doctor. I was diagnosed for shoulder surgery from other hospital/doctor but Dr. Berg gave me second opinion against it after thorough check up and reading of the MRI. I am just as strong as I used to be before.

I was very pleased with the staff, they were warm and friendly. I adored my radiologist, she was upbeat and friendly. I liked the fact that I didn't have to go to another office for xrays or physical therapy. It's all done in one office.

When I saw Dr. Berg, I was in an amazing amount of pain. We reviewed my x rays together, came of with a game plan and Dr. Berg administered two shots in my shoulders. I was a little anxious; Dr. Berg made me feel at ease, and I was 100% comfortable with his bedside manner. Dr. Berg put quite a bit of time and care into making me feel comfortable. I would recommend him highly. Thank you Dr. Berg. You and your staff made a very stressful Dr.'s visit into something that I could handle and come out with a smile on my face!
