Jennifer M. Jolley, MD is a board-certified surgeon and member of the General Surgery department at MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital. She is fellowship trained in advanced gastrointestinal surgery and minimally invasive surgery, specializing in a variety of laparoscopic surgeries such as abdominal wall hernia repairs and foregut procedures.
In addition to pursuing her clinical career, Dr. Jolley has published articles and book chapters that focus on various topics in laparoscopic surgery. She has given oral and poster presentations on subjects ranging from laparoscopic paraesophageal hernia repair in the emergency setting to different techniques in bariatric surgery. She is also a member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Surgeons and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). Prior to medical school, while playing professional basketball abroad, she worked in Arras, France as a nurse's aide at the Centre Hospitalier D'Arras. During her time as a medical student, she volunteered in Ghana for Project C.U.R.E. as a clinic healthcare provider.
Her philosophy of patient care is based upon compassion, efficacy, and teamwork. She focuses on giving patients the highest quality of care while guaranteeing their participation in managing their own medical condition. She believes that knowledge empowers patients to make better decisions regarding their own care. She strives to treat each patient to the best of her ability while ensuring that both patients and their loved ones comprehend their disease process and the different possible methods of treatment.
