Dr. Seidman is a board certified orthopedic surgeon. He joined Academy Orthopedics in 1995. He attended college and medical school at the State University of New York and received his post-graduate training at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York at the State University of New York in Stony Brook.
He completed his Fellowship in Sports Medicine at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Massachusetts. Dr. Seidman was born and raised in New York. He came to Atlanta in 1992 and practiced in Dekalb and Gwinnett counties prior to joining Academy Orthopedics. He has presented papers at orthopedic meetings and has been published in some of the major orthopedic journals. He brings to our practice his expertise in sports injuries, shoulder surgery, and general orthopedic surgery. Dr. Seidman has expertise in both foot and ankle surgery and total joint replacement surgery. Dr. Seidman is a Partner in Education. He gladly tours area businesses to become familiar with the workers’ environments in order to provide more accurate Workers’ Compensation preventative care.

Dr. Seidman is an excellent doctor and surgeon. I would highly recommend him. My husband accompanied me to my pre-op appt. and had an unfortunate confrontation with the front office staff over something so silly and completely preventable. He advised the front office staff member that the waiting room T.V. was loud enough that his ears were hurting. She responded that he wasn't the first to complain, and explained that the sound could not be adjusted? Really? He then asked if it could be turned off. No response from the staff, so he attempted to turn it off manually, with no success. The staff told him in a somewhat confrontational voice, "Sir, PLEASE don't touch the T.V." He then responded in a very loud voice to turn it off! Turn it off, turn it off! At this point a remote control was quickly located and it was turned off. So unfortunate, so silly, and as I said completely preventable. Why could the T.V. not be adjusted or turned off temporarily before he became irate? Neither my husband or the staff behaved in a manner to be commended. Live and learn, I suppose.

On a positive note, I feel like Dr Seidman gave me a very good examination for my complaint of nerve pain brought on by PT excercises prescribed by another doctor in his office. However, his bedside manner was horrible. While I was describing my pain he was reading my chart or writing...not listening. After the exam, he said he was going to order a nerve test and left the room for good never addressing ways to deal with the pain or discussing limits for physical activities. When I told the nurse I still had questions, Dr. Seidman did come back to the exam room but with an annoyed attitude. In all fairness, I think the Doctor is relatively knowledgeable. But his arrogant attitude seems to permiate the entire office. No one seems to have a lot of compassion. They are all clicking away on their computers more concerned with if they get paid than if the patients are comfortable. I will avoid this place in the future. There are much better practices out there.

It may be too soon to say yet but I do like Dr Seidman. The problem is you have to go thru the front desk person. At this point I would rate the Dr high and the front desk low. Time may change my mind for either.

Dr. Seidman is a professional in his craft as well as his communication skills. He was recommended to me by my primary physican, and by a personal friend. I have been seeing Dr. Seidman for two years.
He takes the time to explain why something is occuring, and what possible treatments are available to treat the problem. His staff is friendly, caring and efficient.
