About Dr. Jim Chou

Dr. Chou is one of the few triple board-certified physicians in gastroenterology, internal medicine and obesity medicine in all of Southern California. He completed a prestigious gastroenterology fellowship at the National Institutes of Health and University of Maryland where he gained extensive experience in clinical research and innovative treatment techniques. He completed his obesity medicine certification with the American Board of Obesity Medicine, his Internal Medicine residency at UCLA/Cedars Sinai hospital and his medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Chou has particular interest and expertise in the human gut micro biome, stomach cancer, fatty liver and weight loss. Prior to joining United Gastroenterologists, Dr. Chou practiced at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Panorama City and Santa Clarita. He has now returned to Orange County, his hometown, to continue providing uncompromising care to his patients. Dr. Chou has published research articles and is a frequent speaker at national gastroenterology meetings. For three consecutive years, he has received the Rising Star award for Super Doctors, an honor given to the top 2% of physicians in Southern California. Beloved by his patients and fellow colleagues, Dr. Chou’s attention to individualized patient care, through communication and compassion make him a stand out among his peers. In his free time, Dr. Chou enjoys cooking, swimming, and spending time with his family. He is also fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
