What a great experience! The nurse went over my history and everything, then I went to Dr. Hammer's office to sit and talk with her. I liked talking about my personal problems in an office setting, where I didn't feel vulnerable or judged. After the office, I was brought back to the room where Dr. Hammer and the nurse did the routine. I've never been checked by two people, so at first I didn't feel any privacy. But, they both had great bedside manner and made sure I was comfetorable (as comfetorable as one could be in that situation). Because I don't have insurance, my prescription was resiculously high. They were very helpful and called in several different things to two different pharmacies to help me find what was affordable. By far the best OBGYN I've ever been to!

Dr. Hammer is absolutely fantastic! She was incredibly nice and always smiling. She made me feel at ease and I felt very comfortable talking to her. Definitely coming back to her! She's great.

Dr. Jo Bess Hammer a gynecologist who received her B.S. in Biology at Baylor University and her medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine. She did a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Houston at the Baylor College of Medicine Affiliated Hospitals which include Methodist, St. Luke's, Ben Tab, Jeff Davis and The Women"s Hospitals. In 1980 after residency she came to Austin. Dr. Hammer is board certified in her specialty.
Dr. Hammer served on the Board of the Texas Rehabilitation Medical Committee for 9 years and was section chief for OB-Gyn at St. David's Community Hospital for the years 1993 and 1994. She is a member of the AMA, Texas Medical Society and the Travis County Medical Society. Her practice now is Office Gynecology.
She has 3 grown sons,enjoys photography, snorkeling, swimming and her gardens.
Being in Austin since 1980 has given her the pleasure of seeing many patients over a lifetime through the birth of their children, and then allowed her the pleasure of caring for those children as they have reached the age themselves of needing Gynecologic care.

I went on a day that was not very busy and I was seen right away. Jo Bess Hammer was highly recommended to me by a coworker and I will continue to be a patient of hers. I went for a routine visit but also discussed with her some more serious topics. She was compassionate and more than helpful. For a wonderful experience, you must go to Jo Bess Hammer. MUST!

She was incredible! So nice and very caring. I will most definitely make her my permanent ob/gyn. I have never been so comfortable with an ob/gyn, it wasn't awkward and she was not condescending like most ob/gyns.

Wonderful doctor!!! I got there 30 minutes early with my paper work already printed and filled out, and they got me in right away. She was very thorough and knowledgeable! I will definitely go to her from now on!

Great visit. She is very thorough and never seems to be in a hurry. Nice office, friendly staff, and very helpful nurse that always returns my calls in a timely fashion. Dr. Hammer is very sweet and has a very calm bedside manner. I love the use of the ZocDoc and the chance to recommend her to others.

She answered my questions and explained the procedure she was conducting in time for me to be prepared for "cramps," She expressed sincere condolences for a recent death in my family that I mentioned when she was taking history.

I usually dont get time to come and drop any reviews; but this visit of mine was so pleasantly surprising that I wanted to come here and write down something for her. I have rarely seen doctors like Dr. Hammer; kind, smiling, considerate, great listner and like a soothing tonic. She took time to explain everything and her smile didnot leave her even on my stupid questions. I was much worried to visit her because there were no reviews here. But the moment she started talking, all fears faded away and I felt confidence in her. Really loved the way she treats her patients and cures their ailness.
