I love Dr. Roufous -- she's caring, intelligent and so amusing she makes visits fun. I've never heard anyone talk as fast as she does .... She's very professional too. I dragged my feet about getting a hearing aid for years and she got me to try a tiny, invisible pair. I don't even think about it now. It's like getting my hearing back, magically!

Dr. Joanna Roufos, Audiologist completed her bachelor's degree in English Education and a Masters degree in Audiology at Saint John's University. She obtained her doctorate degree in Audiology in 2007 from the Arizona School of Health Sciences. In 1995, she completed her nine month clinical fellowship rotation at the Lexington Hearing and Speech Center/School for the Deaf where she remained for fourteen years the latter six years serving as the Executive Director. Dr. Roufos obtained extensive experience in both the business and clinical aspects of audiology specific to a not-for-profit diagnostic and treatment center. She oversaw and directed operations in the clinical audiology program, educational audiology program, industrial audiology program, speech/language pathology program, otolaryngological program and spearheaded the Early Intervention Program at the Lexington Hearing and Speech Center/Lexington School for the Deaf.
Dr. Roufos transitioned from the not-for-profit sector, developing her startup audiology business in her hometown of Whitestone, New York. She opened her first office in 2009 and then her second office in New York City in the Winter of 2010. Her third office opened in Astoria, Queens in the summer of 2010. In New York City, she works collaboratively with otolaryngologists, Dr. David R. Edelstein, Dr. Arnold Komisar, Dr. Ariadna Papageorge, Dr. David A. Seidman and Dr. Joshua Zimm of Manhattan Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Roufos continues to provide diagnostic comprehensive audiological evaluations for pediatric through geriatric populations, specialty testing including auditory brainstem response audiometry, electrocochleography and vestibular nystamography. (Re) habilitative services including hearing aid and assistive listening device consultations, demonstrations and dispensing, musician ear plugs and monitors.
Dr. Roufos is an adjunct faculty-clinical supervisor in Audiology in the Speech and Hearing Center of Saint John's University. Additionally, she has taught several undergraduate and graduate audiology courses and has mentored and continues to mentor doctoral students in audiology. She is a member of various professional societies and she is licensed in the State of New York to practice Audiology and to Dispense Hearing Aids.

Truly a great doctor who cares about her patients. Dr. Roufos is one of a kind and is extraordinary at what she does. For years I didn't want to see an audiologist because I felt that previous doctors didn't care about my needs as an individual patient. I suffered traumatic hearing loss and Dr. Roufos rescued me. Her knowledge of new technology with hearing assistance devices opened up new possibilities and she showed patience and good humor in doing the necessary adjustments. It saved my professional career and my ability to play music. I can truly say she is wonderful!
