Dr. Joel Kizner, MD

Please expect a call from the office!!* Dr. Kizner is a medical graduate of Montreal's McGill University. After medical school he completed two residency programs, first in family medicine, then obstetrics and gynecology. Dr Kizner is originally from Montreal, moving to Southern California in 1992. He practiced in Montreal for 7 years, where he was on the faculty of McGill University’s Medical School. He is currently on staff at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, St. Mary Medical Center, Los Alamitos Medical Center, Lakewood Regional Medical center, and Long Beach Community Hospital. Dr. Kizner is known as a proponent of family oriented, natural childbirth with a minimum of medical intervention. He has received a "best practice" designation from Long Beach Memorial Hospital for having the lowest Cesarean section rate among all the obstetricians practicing there. His Cesarean section rate, since he first began practicing, has consistently been in the 10-15% range, well below the national average, which is now about 30%. Dr. Kizner is married with three daughters and is an avid long distance runner. Since moving to California, he has run the Long Beach marathon nine times, the Palos Verdes marathon seven times, and the LA marathon three times. His personal best marathon time was in Palos Verdes, 3:29. His last race was the 2010 Long Beach Marathon.
