JoEllen Kaufman, MS,LDN,CLS, sums up her philosophy as: "Real Food for Real People". Ms. Kaufman has been helping individuals with diet, exercise, and lifestyle for almost 30 years. Her current office is in Northbrook, Illinois. Her primary goal as a practitioner is to help her patients develop the tools and skills they need to live better for a lifetime. "There is so much confusion these days as to what to eat, people have become food-phobic. Healthy eating is about getting back to basics." Ms. Kaufman starts with a personal assessment that accounts for personal, medical and family history, lifestyle, likes, dislikes and goals. A flexible plan with options is then developed with each client and then tweaked along the way.
Ms. Kaufman holds certification as a clinical lipid specialist from the Accreditation Council for Clinical Lipidology, and has completed the CDR Certificate of Training in Adult Weight Management in May 2007.
While pursuing a teaching degree, Ms. Kaufman was diagnosed with high cholesterol, instilling in her a passion for heart disease reversal and the study of lipids. She pursued her Masters education at the University of Illinois. To keep her practice up-to-date, Ms. Kaufman attends conferences annually through the National Lipid Association, as well as the University of Chicago Midwest Medical Forum, the American Heart Association conference, and online seminars.
When Ms. Kaufman is not consulting with patients, she enjoys outdoor activities such as walking, biking, and swimming, and spending time with her family, which includes her 15 year old lab Emma.
