More about Dr. John Eggleston III, MD
Dr. John M. Eggleston III, M.D. graduated with honors from Dartmouth College and attended medical school in his home state at the University of Virginia. He completed a prestigious residency program in general and plastic surgery at Stanford University before pursuing additional training in microvascular and hand surgery at the University of California San Diego where he completed training in 2001.
Dr. Eggleston taught and worked for many years in the Department of Plastic Surgery at Johns Hopkins University which was ranked by US News and World Report as the #1 hospital in the nation all the years of Dr. Eggleston’s professorship there. He returned to the West Coast in 2005 to teach plastic surgery at Stanford University and operate at the Kaiser Santa Clara Medical Center. He has published multiple peer-reviewed journal articles and text-book chapters. He has spoken at conferences across the nation and has participated in or directed medical mission expeditions throughout Latin America, Eastern Europe, Africa and Asia.
With his wife, oculoplastic surgeon Malena Amato, M.D., and their two sons, Gabriel and Liam, Dr. Eggleston moved to Texas in 2013 where he joined the Breast and Body Center of Austin. He performs microvascular, hand and upper extremity, cosmetic, and all manner of plastic and reconstructive surgery. His philosophy places top value not only on excellent surgery but also on patient education, communication, and teamwork in operating room. He has been board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery since 2002 and speaks functional French and Spanish. His non-medical interests include cycling, sports with his sons, and adventure.

I have enjoyed Dr. Eggleston as my doctor. He is very nice and easy to talk to. He thoroughly explained the surgery procedure which is very important. Also - he was concerned and stayed in touch after my surgery (had reaction of some kind). I would use Dr. Eggleston again! He is great. Thanks.

Dr. Eggleston is a great doctor. I would highly recommend him to anyone. My wife Fela had great result. His staff is so friendly and very helpful and guided us through this process to make it easier. We are so grateful to him.
