A US Navy Gulf War veteran, he received his medical degree and completed his residency in OB-Gyn at LSU Health Sciences Center. He enjoys all aspects of OB-Gyn, particularly infertility and minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery. The most important aspect of medicine to Dr. Mercer is getting to know his patients and their families and building relationships. He has been married for 23 years and has four children and two grandchildren. His wife Tara is a pediatrician who will be practicing in the Grand Valley. They moved to Wyoming in 2008 and love the Rocky Mountain West. As soon-to-be empty nesters, they enjoy backcountry skiing, alpine climbing, cycling, and are looking forward to exploring the canyons in Moab.
