More about John Nielson, NP
John is Nationally Board Certified as a Nurse Practioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Committee and has been licensed by the State of Colorado since 1997. In 1993, he was the commencement speaker and graduated cum laude from Regis University. After several years of working as an RN in pediatrics, graduating in 1997 as the "Graduate Student of the Year." After several years in family practice, John has worked exclusively in dermatology since 2005.
John grew up mostly in Boulder and graduated from Fairview High. After attending CU for a couple years, he taught music and he was concert director for the Swallow Hill Music Association in Denver. He was a DJ at KGNU radio and a research fellow working with the Colorado folk music archives. As a member of the cowboy folk group, Horse Sense, he toured extensively across the US and five continents for ten years, performing in venues as varied as Carnegie Hall in New York to rodeos in Wyoming to the highlands of Papua New Guinea. John plays fiddle, mandolin, guitar, and banjo.
John is also an avid gardener and enjoys hiking the Front Range.
